2 PREFACE Opera Gallery is proud to announce Young Blood, an exhibition set to illustrate the diversity and creativity within the field of contemporary art. The art world is in constant movement, each new generation brings fresh names and fresh ideas to the forefront. Young Blood is set to present a diverse display of global up-and-comers that are collectively, the future crème de la crème of contemporary art. Ali Alisir, C215, Emir Haveric, Mac1, The London Police, Noah Wunsch and Flore Zoé will be showcased side by side, for a visual melting pot of artistic concepts. From narrative photography to graffiti, spiritual abstraction to digitized cityscapes, these artists touch on the inner workings of humanity and the society that man has created around him. Traversing the many styles, genres and mediums of contemporary art, Young Blood will display how each artist takes a different approach to his craft and the ideas they wish to convey. While these artists approach art from various vantage points, in terms of intensity, socio-political engagement and painterly styles, what unambiguously unites them is their portrayal and commentary of mankind. Portraying reality as they view it, these artists create the industrial habitats of city dwellers, graffiti that was born on the streets of such environments, reflexive compositions that capture the psychological and spiritual ponderings of mankind. The creations of Young Blood will alter and redefine the artistic language of its forefathers to ensure the progression for the future artistic generations. ALI ALISIR Born in 1978 in Istanbul, Turkey. His digital photography can be considered as an insightful exploration of artistic and technological practices.

3 ALI ALISIR Born in 1978 in Istanbul, Turkey. His digital photography can be considered as an insightful exploration of artistic and technological practices. In his Virtual Places series, his oversized photographs of famous buildings from around the world appear to be extravagantly manipulated acts of architectural virtuosity. They show multiple buildings (or composite buildings) repeated one atop the other into infinity. Thus, the artworks appear bedazzling. The confusion of buildings relinquishes all visible contact with architecture. The cityscape becomes a gray-toned composite image of superimposed and overlapping depictions of electronic circuits and close-ups of motherboards. Within, and behind all this, we barely recognise the blurry urban details. There lies the strength of Ali Alisir s artworks. 6 C215 Born in 1973 in Paris, France. C215 is the moniker of Christian Guémy, a French street artist hailing from Paris. In addition to his street work, C215 also produces commercial artwork for galleries on wood and canvas. His elaborate stencils - if outside a gallery - appear in the streets of various cities all over the globe, such as New Delhi, London, Istanbul, Fez, Rome, Barcelona and Paris. Lighting up the urban spaces they decorate, every stencil has a reason to exist in its specific, wellthought of place and all his pieces are hand-cut and sprayed originals with a mix of found objects. 9 EMIR HAVERIC Born in 1973 in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Emir Haveric moved to Germany when he was 18 years old. An eminent authority - Haveric is one of the top five automotive photographers worldwide, and is an expert at shooting and composing with a CGI. Originally interested in fashion photography, everything changed when he worked as a trainee at a large car photography studio, where he was drawn to the complexities of shooting automobiles. His talents have landed him numerous awards which include Gold at The One Show, Effie Awards, Art Directors Club and AOP Photographers. He was also shortlisted at Cannes and was a finalist in the 2009 New York Photo Festival. MAC1 Born in 1973 in Brierley Hill, England. Mac1 is a photorealistic graffiti artist who came out of Birmingham s innovative scene in the 1980s & 90s.

11 MAC1 Born in 1973 in Brierley Hill, England. Mac1 is a photorealistic graffiti artist who came out of Birmingham s innovative scene in the 1980s & 90s. He is a self-taught artist who deals mainly with acrylics, oils and inks. He is inspired by pop/comic art as well as iconic figures from the past and present. Mac1 has been painting for 19 years, mainly with aerosol paint. In this time he has made a reputation for himself as one of the finest photo realistic portrait painters in the world, using aerosol paint, entirely freehand. 13 THE LONDON POLICE Born in the 1970s in England. The London Police consists of Bob Gibson and Chaz. The duo started in 1998 when they began their paths by travelling to Amsterdam in an attempt to liven up the streets. The artists display art in an illustrative and innovative expression. While one s skill lies in drawing circles freehand with no compasses or guides, the other has developed his own imagery, an architectural style of line drawing. Wanting to create a place full of interaction between their circle and line drawing, their playful fantasy monochrome cityscapes are filled with their iconic Lad characters that are constructed and move around freely, in turn helping to build further elements of the city. NOAH WUNSCH Born in 1970 in Rendsburg, Germany. He studied design with the well-known Hamburg based artist, Ursula Unbehaun, and attended the University for Music and Art in Vienna, Austria.

As a photographer, he was a pupil of Christoph Rüdt von Collenberg and Wolfgang Klein. His energetic abstractions conjure calm and chaos coherently, as explosions of colour evoke cosmic associations dance around the canvas. His series Ciel d Or stems from a deep routes spiritualism of the artist. Noah Wunsch lives and travels between Paris, Hamburg, New York and California. 19 FLORE ZOÉ Born in 1975 in The Netherlands. Her passion is to translate aspects of life, ideas and emotions, capturing them with her camera. From a very early age she has been forming and staging images, but only turned to it as a profession later on in life. Her studies in Psychology as well as the inspiration acquired during an extended trip to the Far East reignited this passion, today, her profession is her passion: the creation of images that tell a story. A large part of her artwork entails not only capturing emotions that speak to her; but they also convey how they transmit her own perceptions in a semi-autobiographical fashion.
