1 Advice for method of planning an ibook on PC or Mac All audio to be in M4A format - online convertor found at:- All Images to be as small as possible average 200 X 250 pixels jpg largest approx.400x400 jpg 100dpi All Movies Mp4- no bigger than 640X480 Max size of whole ibook 50meg. NO PHOTOS unless they are yours - everything drawn by YOU NO LINKS to YouTube as schools often ban it. NO LINKS To any commercial site including amazon. Stick to Wikipedia and dedicated children s websites. You are advised to write your script first and work out what images/movies/web links/narration/quizes you will need as you go. Then make all the bits you need, so all you have to do is slot them into ibook author at Uni.Test them out and update as needed. This is my sample script for Quizicat Questions Flowers. My Key - PURPLE for Movies to make GREEN for images to draw RED for web links Front cover is QC looking curiously at a Sunflower. Intro image is repeat of cover CHAPTER 1 -

3 CHAPTER 2 - Who first painted these flowers? Van Gogh lived from he was only 37 when he died but in that short time he painted over 2000 pictures some of which are the most well loved paintings in the world. 4 Large dark landscapes like this one painted in the artists studio were the fashion when Van Gogh was born. They hung in Museums and Art Galleries throughout Europe. Everyone thought they were the only sort of art worth looking at. 07Monet Impression Sunrise In1841 oil paint in tubes were invented so artists started painting out of doors in and around Paris. Making pictures like this Sunrise by Monet. The bright colours and big dabs of paint shocked everyone.they said this is not a painting just an Impression. So Monet and friends called themselves Impressionists from 1874 onwards. 06 Van Gogh Dark Trees Dark trees painted in Amsterdam by Van Gogh in All his work at this time was painted in thick dark oil paint on canvas. Or, as in this example pen, brush and dark ink on paper. 06 Van Gogh Fishing in Spring In 1886 a penniless Van Gogh went to stay with his brother Theo in Paris. There he saw Monet s painting of a Sunrise. Vincent loved this and all the Impressionist paintings. He changed his style in 1887 to bright colours like this Fishing in Spring. From then on his painting got more and more colourful and expressive.

You can see he really liked yellow from his paintings, thinking it to be Warm and Friendly. He also loved sunshine and enjoyed painting flowers, trees and landscape. 7 CHAPTER 2 - Why did Van Gogh paint these flowers? Van Gogh loved the colour yellow, the warmth of the sun and painting pictures. He wanted to make his new home in the sunny South of France into an art studio where artists could come and paint and share ideas about art and life.
