2 About Agung Santosa Born in Bukittinggi, Sumatera, Indonesia on March 1st 1986, Agung now lives in Jogjakarta. An autodidact artist he manages to capture the soul of his object that he draws. He has been awarded with the Tujuh Bintang Art Award Nominee The Power of Dream in 2009 and has received the Makassar Art Moment trophy. Agung has a complex mind and likes to think whenever he creates his works. He likes to play with his imagination and not afraid to express his emotion on canvas. Hence the result of his works, both realist or abstracts are usually powerful and have this captivating seductive aura.

5 About Erianto Experience is the turning point of any art making process. Good or bad of an experience that we express in fine art is someone s choice in manifesting these passions. My experiences in the fine art world made a particular impression in the artworks I create; that experience did not just happen but it was processed naturally, that I as a part of nature, am really aware that experience cannot be made or manipulated. Thus, my artworks are the presentation of that and that which have become the daily matter in my life and deep exploration of that which is all around us. I understand that the matter that forms us is our own environment; to know and understand our environment is the most beautiful experience in life.

14 About Naufal Abshar Naufal Abshar is a promising young Indonesian artist, born in 1993 in Bandung. Trained at Lasalle College of the Arts and Goldsmith University of London, Naufal has participated in various group exhibitions in places as diverse as Singapore, Jogja, Venice and Lithuania. In 2013, he won the first prize in the Indonesia Arts Festival live painting competition. With his HAHA series, Naufal explores the roots and boundaries of humour and laughter. As an artist, Naufal is a student perhaps unconscious of the philosopher Henri Bergson who researched the meaning of laughter and observed its social function. My work explores the amalgamation of the concepts of laughter and humour, which are universal to human culture. HAHA represents laughter in various activities, which are: laughing because we won something, laughing because we mock someone, laughing induced by craziness or it can be a rejection of fears. So in my work, I try to twist the role of laughter or humour into an activity of repetition that constructs social criticism. The prolongation of form on political humour can be found in most of my works, the use of satiric laughter illustrates how I use laughter as an activity that can imply criticism.

18 About Wayan Novi Jogja based artist Wayan Novi has developed a distinctive personal vision of the importance of everyday objects and their beauty in the simple village life he grew up in. Novi's paintings depict vivid memories of himself growing up in the mountainous Angseri village in Bali with its pivotally cold weather, and the kitchen. The best place for his family members and friends to hang out was always near the warmth of the fireplace; in the kitchen. His intricate pictures reveal the details his eye captures in and around this living space, and through this visual depiction, narrates a series of stories around family, bonds and relationships. Novi s dedicated mark making solely with a pen on a large canvas forms an impressionable yet neutral landscape for everyday objects to find their place. At times, an abstract plethora of teapots, light petromaks, sickles and hoes hover around one another like a close knitted community, their shadows pressing lightly on the surface, yet with determination to protect their territory. At other moments, a solitary kettle demands your attention to the center of the picture; the protagonist raising a speech to the gatherers by the fireplace. Standing in front of the picture, you can feel the village warmth Novi is attempting to convey.
