1 INDIA Bourbon - Handdyed Sari Rugs & Pillows India is a mysterious country, full of opposites. Famous for its rich colours and exquisite fabrics, it also suffers from a tremendous poverty. That s why Solid Crafts chooses to apply its efficient hybrid business model in Ranchi, in the state of Jharkhand. This region has emerged as vulnerable state for trafficking of women and children for forced labour. So Solid founded Paces Crafts: a fair trade knitting, crocheting and weaving workshop. All generated profits of Paces Crafts are granted to the remarkable sister Jeanne Devos and her child refugee program called the Jaan Foundation. THE STORY: A sari, saree, or shari is a typical female garment from the Indian subcontinent, wrapped around the waist, consisting of a large piece of drape, even up to 8 meters. The sari is widely regarded as a symbol of grace. Our workshops gather and recycle these saries and bring them to life again in trendy decorative pillows and rugs. This collection combines intense warm colours with a rich structure of natural cotton. Because of the specific weave pattern they are a bit delicate but extra spongy which makes them very comfy! 3 INDIA Bourbon Jute - Handdyed Jute Rugs & Pillows India is a mysterious country, full of opposites. THE STORY: In between a textile fiber and a wood fiber, Jute is a plant fiber that is rapidly renewable and very durable it s the second most important vegetable fiber after cotton. Jute is color-fast, won t fade in sunlight, and has sound and heat insulating properties. These properties make it an extremely popular material for natural rugs. Why so durable? Jute fibers are long usually measuring 3-12 feet. The fibers are stripped from the stems and outer skins of the jute plant and can be twisted and braided to increase their strength. Jute plants can grow in only 4-6 months and just requires rain and humidity with no need for pesticides or fertilizers. Not only is it completely biodegradable, but it is also a recyclable fibre. And it relies on natural rainfall, rather than extensive and hugely consuming irrigation systems. B MBYX Tales of India

5 INDIA Brandy - Plaid & pillow in wool & silk India is a mysterious country, full of opposites. THE STORY: There are two different ways to make beautiful natural silk. The conventional way is to breed silkworms (Bombyx mori) in large quantities, wait shortly until they have made their cocoon and then boil rapidly to harvest the silk. The other way is to wait patiently until the silkworm has turned into a beautiful butterfly, let it fly and then use the silk cocoon that is left.this type of sustainable silk production is small-scale and was called peace silk by Ghandi himself. The current fashion industry is too much based on this first principle where people and the environment are not respected Solid Crafts offers an alternative. We only use Peace Silk. Beautiful to see, soft and cuddly to feel, with a traditional and authentic appearance, this collection combines practical convenience with soft and calming pastels. B MBYX Tales of India

7 INDIA Cognac - Plaid & pillow in 100% Indian wool India is a mysterious country, full of opposites. THE STORY: All our products are exclusive and handmade. Woven at a handloom, a rich and varied tradition in India. Hand weaving is a heritage craft that dates back more than 5000 years. The Indian handloom industry is as vast and varied as the country s culture itself. You will find a different weave in every nook and corner of India. Every state and region in the country has developed its own traditional design and craft, which have been passed on from generation to generation. The handloom industry is less capital intensive than the power loom, uses minimal power, is eco-friendly and adapts well to the needs of the market. Furthermore we select local and natural materials and try to minimize the environmental impact of our production by using sustainable production methods and reduction of waste generation.
