2 THE MODERN TOWEL A BRIEF HISTORY TOWELGEVITY THE NEW STANDARD IN QUALITY Deep in the mountains of Southern Turkey lies a small village nestled under snow capped peaks. This mountain hamlet called Babadag was home to many of the master carpet weavers. Legend has it that during the 15th Century, one of these craftsmen experimented with weaving towels in the fashion of woven rugs. Previously, all towels were flat woven without loops. This weaver believed the same loops used in carpet weaving would make a better towel and in fact the addition of loops did vastly improve absorbency. Thus the Turkish towel was born becoming the world s standard. Our products are all made in the legendary towel producing town of Denizli, Turkey, the world s largest center for woven terry production. Our modern production facility features Swiss-made computer controlled weaving equipment. Specifically made for the hotel industry, particular attention is paid to the stitching and finishing of all products. All of our towels are double-stitched along the lengths to avoid fraying and for added stability.
