5 We do. Mattresses are funny things. These days they can cost as much as a quality second-hand car. Some beds can even cost as much as a brand new car with extra features. Does a good mattress have to cost so much? We honestly don t understand it either. However we build our mattresses with a high comfort factor, using quality materials we still only come up to a fraction of that price. In order to ensure our mattresses are comfortable and hardwearing we use a real man made of steel and wood, admittedly but still. And this 140kg man is without doubt the most demanding man ever to lie in a mattress. He has one job in life, and that s to test our mattresses. And he does it well. His tests show that the springs really last, which is why we give our mattresses a 25-year guarantee without as much as a second thought. There s a lot of talk about natural materials in mattress advertisements these days and at IKEA stores you can choose from mattresses filled with horsehair, camel hair, silk or wool. But there are also times when other materials are more suitable such as polyester, which is twice as strong as cotton. 45 Make sure there is one for everyone.. That s how it is with sleep sometimes. If you have small children you can rely on them coming to see you in the middle of the night. Things can get cramped, hot and disordered. And there might be a fight over the pillows and quilts. Keep hold of your own pillow if you can, especially if you chose it with care. We have long understood that people who want to sleep well need to think about how they sleep. Your pillow is extremely important, because it decides how the muscles in your head and neck can relax. Do you sleep on your side? Then you should have an extra plump pillow that gives you more support. Do you sleep on your back? Then you should have a normal height pillow. Do you sleep on your stomach? Then a low pillow is best. But, you may well ask, if you sleep on your stomach, back, and side, and change position throughout the night, which pillow should you choose? The answer is to have two. One high and one low, and vary between them.
