RG Kit Guidebook ARGINEERING
RG Kit Guidebook ARGINEERING
ARGINEERING The desire to interact, to connect exists in us all. As interactive beings, we interact not only with each other, but with the world around us. We love to create and immerse ourselves in experiences, engage minds and senses, and stir up emotions. At Argineering, we believe that design and art should interact with people the same way they interact with each other. Bring every great art alive. 5
RGKit Drive your creativity into a new dimension and bring your designs to life...designs that detect passersby, lights that react to movement, objects that twirl and swirl, items that turn to touch sensors and more. All this with RGKit, the first device customized for artists and designers to create interactive environments with an easy-to-use process, using both hardware and software. It requires no engineering skills and zero lines of code! 7
More No engineering skills No lines of code focus on the design More room for creativity More 8 ownership 9
How It Works Think of RGKit the same way you think of the human body. Feel Modules are the senses, while the brain is the Control Unit. The Control Unit processes and orchestrates movements sending signals to the body; Animate Modules, to start moving. Finally, the same way we connect with each other, Connect Modules are designed to connect with any other device. FEEL MODULES CONTROL UNIT ANIMATE MODULES CONNECT MODULES 10 11
RGApp
Toolbar As simple as creating a presentation on your laptop, RGApp allows you to customize your entire interactive project. Drag and drop, set the parameters and connect wirelessly with RGKit Modules. Toolbar Command your control unit. Module Bar Drag and drop your modules. Process Area Set the sequence of your project. Parameter Bar Customize all your actions. Each module has its own parameters. Module Bar Process Area Parameter Bar 15
Toolbar All Feel Modules have two modes you can choose from. All are triggered All Feel Modules must be triggered for the Animate Modules in the process to take an action. Projects Back to your projects. Play and Pause Click to play or pause your project. Control Unit The red circle is Off. The green circle is On. If you see it, you are connected to the Control Unit. One is triggered At least one Feel Module must be triggered for the Animate Modules in the process to take an action. Process Area Each project must have a minimum of one process. A process can be one of two types. Conditional Type If the Feel Module senses a certain motion, it automatically triggers the Animate Module to do a certain action. It s preset. 16 Floating Type It waits for you to trigger the Feel Module to move. It s instantaneous. Each process must have a minimum of one Animate Module. 17
Connect to Your Control Unit Plug the Control Unit in a power source and turn it on. The LED will start blinking. Access the Wi-Fi networks from your laptop. Choose the network called RGKit followed by 4 digits. Enter the password: RGKitAPCU This may take up to 30 seconds Open RGApp. You can download it from argineering.net/rgapp Click on the plus sign to create a new project. Enter its name and click Create. 18 Wi-Fi: On Turn Wi-Fi Off RGKit_0000 Join Other Network... Create Network... Open Network Preferences You can now begin connecting your modules. 19
Connect to Your Feel and Animate Modules Plug the chosen module (Feel or Animate) to a power source and the LED will light up. Open RGApp. Drag and drop the chosen module icon from the Module Bar into the Process Area. 4. You will find a red dot in the corner of the module icon indicating that the module isn t connected. 5. Click connect on the Parameter Bar on the right side
6. A popup window will appear with the available modules. If you have more than one module from the same type, click on the module s Ping icon and your module s LED will blink. This will allow you to know which module you want to connect to. Ping Click on the module icon you want to connect to. Make sure the red dot in the corner of the module icon has disappeared. You can now bring your project alive
