Jewelers Vigilance Committee Debuts New Internet Advertising Monitoring Program Jewelers Vigilance Committee announced the debut of a new program, the Internet Advertising Monitoring Program, which

7 Jewelers Vigilance Committee Debuts New Internet Advertising Monitoring Program Jewelers Vigilance Committee announced the debut of a new program, the Internet Advertising Monitoring Program, which will take a comprehensive look at advertising by jewelers on the internet, focusing on banner advertising commonly seen on websites. This new program allows JVC staff to review a broad range of content from national and local online advertisements. JVC will review to evaluate compliance with the various laws that apply to the advertising of jewelry. Responding to a request from the JVC through an online membership survey conducted in 2013, JVC s board recommended the addition of this new program to JVC s already comprehensive suite of services to the industry. JVC researched the most effective way to review this advertising, and employs a software program which gathers jewelry advertisements from the Internet and presents them for review for compliance with federal laws such as the Federal Trade Commission s Guides. JVC staff will evaluate the advertising and then work with the individual jewelers to correct advertising that is in violation. JVC is pleased to provide this service to the jewelry industry, which benefits the industry as a whole. Correcting advertising that runs counter to legal standards will ensure a level playing field, and will improve the industry s image on the Internet, said Cecilia L. Gardner, President & CEO. About Jewelers Vigilance Committee Jewelers Vigilance Committee, founded in 1917, is a not-for-profit legal trade association fulfilling its mission to maintain the jewelry industry s highest ethical standards. JVC offers dispute mediation and arbitration services for trade and consumers, compliance monitoring and precious metals testing, among many other services. JVC, long considered the industry s guardian of ethics and integrity, is a resource for the entire jewelry industry and its customers. To transfer goods a bonded carrier must be utilized. No retail sales are allowed in Foreign Trade Zones but wholesale trades are. The US Customs must approve a sale out of the FTZ. When the required paperwork is filed it can take days to obtain the required Customs Dept. approval.
