Just imagine if you were to be in Andamooka today you would be lucky to find two outfits mining on all the fields because: i. it s too hot even though summer is finished, and ii. very few miners are operating even today. If a miner had #1, which is a piece of rough showing rainbow type patterns and you offered him $48 for it you d need to run because they would find it so insulting. That s a beauty. And if you were in Opal Valley and you noodled six lovely stones like #2 and someone offered you a measly $50 for them you d chase them off the field. That s a bargain little parcel. As is #3 Mintubi seven stones for only $ Can you imagine noodling for two days to find 2oz Opal Valley Chips and accepting only $80 for them? I think not. #4, if you use Chips will definitely be for you, if they are not bright enough we have chips also at $80/oz, $200/oz and $400/oz. #5 is a magnificent piece of gem seam opal sitting on ironstone just as it came from the ground in Queensland, that could be used for inlay or you could cut a lovely solid from it. If you want a nice black Mintubi #11 is an intriguing piece, the black line through it might mean something to you, it could be seen as the letter u or a y or a v or if you look at it another way a long skinny y with a v neck to it. So if you name is 'Yvonne Ventris here s a beautiful black opal with your initials on it. Turn it upside down and see what else you can see. I see Heather has taken 3 lovely pictures and we shouldn t be asking $159 for the stone we should cut it and sell it for $159/ct but very very seldom do we ever cut an opal than if our clients especially request us to do so. #14 Mintubi Reds are from the Airport Field, the miners always felt there was opal under the landing strip of the airport so the Government opened it up, they drew lots to decide who got which claim. Our friend got a claim and this is part of what he found. A bargain for only $170. Of course you will cut more than 4 stones out of it. #16 Black Mintubi Reds & Greens is soon to be a thing of the past as you may know the Government is going to shut down the town of Mintubi as the land belongs to the Aborigines. Bad things are happening there so it seems they are going to kick all the non indigenous people out. #17 Coober Pedy brilliant Shell pieces.5oz $200 will be a good one for you if you work with small pieces of rough. If you don t #18 Lightning Ridge huge nobby only $275 will be exciting, something that you will enjoy finishing and wearing. That stone has already been faced so you can see you are going to get a lot of beautiful electric blue. #20-21 are smaller and even more brilliant shell pieces, probably from the 23 Mile. The Belemnite (pipe) #22-24 is a magnificent piece of opal probably between somewhere million years old. All you have to do is clean it up and you can see from #22 the opal

2 50-75 million years old. All you have to do is clean it up and you can see from #22 the opal is practically right through the stone, you just have to take the skin off and you ll have a beautiful ring or pendant, you could split it into two and make matching earrings. One of the last parcels that was mined at Mintubi you ll see in #25-27 that s a beautiful piece you can see how large it is from the pictures between Heather s fingers, you just have to grind the skin off and you ll have a magnificent opal 38mm long, 12mm wide and 5mm thick in its raw state. #28-31, 32-34, are all from that parcel, a number of different stones that all face magnificently. #35 will show you how the $1,500 piece will come up, that s practically just as it was mined. I personally like #32-34 for $1,013 and if number 13 is a number you would like to avoid give me $1,000 and it s yours. It is a big one. As you take off the face you are going to have practically every colour in the rainbow. I would just clean it up as it is and have a magnificent pendant but I like big stones. Last but nowhere near least is the Belemnite (opal pipe) as described by the miners for only $2,000. This one will take very little cleaning and is up to 48mm long so you can have a matching pair of earrings or you could have a ring and earrings or earrings and a pendant. You have lots of choices and you get 45cts of opal in this brilliant gem colour for only $2,000 it is a great deal as it is, only $49.38/ct. You will never buy another magnificent pipe like this for such little money. #42 shows you that it is a pipe, it is dented at the end as true belemnites are. Personally I think that should be worn just as a pendant. You don t know how proud I am to be able to offer you all these opals for such a reasonable price and I thank Heather for taking a lot of her precious time to get the best images for you but there s not one image here that is as good as the opal will look when it s in your hand, cameras are not as good as human eyes. The only drawback will be that there will be six people wanting the Opal Valley #2 for only $50, its proper value is probably closer to $150 and that s the truth.
