2 About Kitikmeot Corporation Our Vision Kitikmeot Corporation is the business development arm of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and as such, is 100% Inuit-Owned Our vision is a vibrant economic climate, including sustainable business and employment opportunities that benefit Kitikmeot Inuit
3 About Kitikmeot Corporation Our Mission Our primary purpose is business development By developing and/or acquiring sound, profitable and sustainable businesses, we create the business and employment opportunities that contribute to the economic, social and cultural wealth of our Region Strategic business partnerships are important in helping us achieve this
4 The Structure of Our Board KC has its own Board of Directors, appointed by KIA: - One member from the KIA Executive Committee - One member from Kitikmeot East communities - One member from Kitikmeot West communities - Two members who have strong business backgrounds. 5 Accountability The KC Board elects a Chair from among its members. Wilf Wilcox is our current Chair and is a long time business person from Cambridge Bay. David Omilgoitok, the President & CEO of KC, and other members of the management team, report to the KC Board on a quarterly basis. David O also reports to the KIA Board on a regular basis, and makes himself available as otherwise required.
6 Why We Establish Joint Ventures Opportunity to enter an industry sector where we may not otherwise have the required expertise Opportunity to position ourselves to pursue various benefits for the Inuit of the Kitikmeot Region o To build capacity for future Inuit participation o Profitability is necessary. But we look for opportunities that allow for meaningful Inuit participation
