2 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION WOMEN ON THE MOVE 2015 Navigating a New Path The Women on the Move program is a Continuing Legal Education seminar focusing on an array of topics of particular interest to women attorneys. This year s program theme is transition and navigating a new path. Distinguished panelists and speakers will share their experiences and valuable insights on topics such as hiring trends in the public and private sector, negotiating your worth, forming partnerships and ethical considerations for transitioning attorneys. Transitioning between the public and private sector can be a challenge to even a seasoned practitioner. It can also be an exciting and rewarding opportunity. This CLE program will highlight the practical skills that have helped women attorneys successfully navigate the particular challenges presented with professional transitions. Specific ethical rules that are relevant to those leaving the public sector to practice in a private law firm setting, as well as the rules governing the reverse transition will also be discussed. Panelists will explore the current employment climate, hiring trends, and life balance issues that should be considered prior to navigating a new career path, including opening your own firm. Learn the tools and tips recommended by women who have navigated transitions successfully, including how to translate your skills from private to public/public to private and feel confident in the value you bring to your new endeavor. Join us for an afternoon of learning on how to transition and navigate your new path. This year s program will be held in Albany, New York on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Fort Orange Club and will feature a keynote address by Hon. Karen K. Peters, Presiding Justice, Appellate Division, Third Department and Hon. Kathy M. Sheehan, Mayor, City of Albany.
