Pascal has been working in wearable technologies for more than ten years. Among other activities, he set up a company offering a wristbased emergency system, a telemetry company, and research companies in the field of smartwatches and healthcare. Before focussing on wearable technologies, Pascal worked at medtech company Synthes and at McKinsey. Pascal studied at the University of St. Gallen and Columbia Business School in New York. His analyses have been covered by articles in media outletsfrom around the world, including Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and NZZ. As founder and CEO Christian Stammel has more than 20 years experience in marketing and sales as well as an excellent international network. Using this expertise he supported numerous international companies of all sizes regarding business development, technology marketing, and increase of sales activities with his innovation and marketing company Navispace AG. 5 Speaker Dr. phil / PhD Anja Frei Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute, University of Zurich Speaker Dr. Stefan Rüping Fraunhofer Institute Now a Senior Researcher at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute (EBPI) of the University of Zurich, Dr. Anja Frei PhD has a solid background in psychology. After completing an MSc and PhD in Psychology specializing in social and health psychology at the University of Zurich, she took up a position as Project Manager and Counselor at the University Hospital Zurich s Centre for Patient Education. In 2009, she became a Scientifi c Staff Member at the Institute of General Practice and Horten Centre for Patient-oriented Research (University of Zurich), before taking up her current position with the EBPI in She has been enrolled in the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine s MSc Epidemiology program since Dr. Stefan Rüping heads the Integrated Data Mining group at the Fraunhofer Institute IAIS. He has years of experience in knowledge discovery and data mining in both industrial and academia projects. Before joining Fraunhofer he was working as a research assistant and Ph. D. student at the Artifi cial Intelligence Unit of the University of Dortmund, where he fi nished his Ph. D. in 2006 as a student of Prof. Katharina Morik.

By founding the Bluetooth sports and fitness working group and driving standards he was deeply involved in the creation of the Bluetooth Sports ecosystem and a significant horizontal market for sports sensors. For the work in Bluetooth SIG Niclas received a Bluetooth Key Contributor Award in Niclas has also been evangelizing the Bluetooth ecosystem very actively. Currently he is Director, R&D Switzerland, where he focuses on developing applications for sports and fitness in business and consumer applications. Dr. Valentin Chapero Rueda (born in 1956 in Madrid) is working as an investor/entrepreneur. Valentin Chapero has been from 2002 until March 2011 CEO of Sonova Holding (Phonak), with CHF 1.6 billion the leader in the hearing health care device market. During Valentin's tenure Sonova tripled its revenue, became the most profitable company in the industry and established the first integrated, multi-brand hearing health care business model composed of hearing instruments, consumer headphones, wireless communication systems, cochlear implants and a significant global direct-to-consumer retail operation. Before joining Phonak, Valentin was CEO of the Mobile Networks division of Siemens AG with a revenue of more than 5 billion Euro. Prior to this he was CEO of the Siemens Audiology Group, then the world s largest hearing instrument manufacturer. Valentin graduated in Physics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and completed his doctorate with a thesis on medical physics.

Gery Colombo Hocoma AG Prof. Milo Puhan, born in 1975, studied medicine at the University of Zurich and at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. After working as an internal medicine resident at the Zurich Höhenklinik in Wald, Switzerland and as a Research Fellow at the University of Zurich s Horten Center, he earned a PhD at the University of Amsterdam in Immediately following, Prof. Puhan was a Senior Research Fellow at the Swiss National Science Foundation. From 2008 to 2012, he was a tenure track Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA Milo Puhan became Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and Director of the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute, University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. sc. techn. Gery Colombo has nearly 20 years experience in the biomedical engineering industry. After obtaining a degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in biomedical engineering from the ETH Zurich, in 1996, he co-founded Hocoma GmbH, a company that specializes in robotic and sensor-based devices for functional movement therapy, together with Peter Hostettler and Matthias Jörg. In 1999, he was awarded The Outstanding Young Person of Switzerland (TOYP) award for the development of Lokomat, a driven gait orthosis developed by Hocoma. This was followed by several other awards for both him and the company, including the Ludwig-Guttman-Prize of the German Medicinal Association for Paraplegiology for his doctoral thesis, the Winner Herring 100 Europe and Global awards for Hocoma, and the High-Potential SME quality label awarded by the Swiss Economic Forum. In 2000, Hocoma GmbH became Hocoma AG, a stock company, of which Dr. Colombo is the CEO.
