3 Georgia Small Business Facts Georgia Small Businesses In 2008, Small Businesses accounted for 45.7% of all private-sector jobs. Small businesses totaled 907,068 in the state in Of these, 175,574 were employers. Source: Georgia small Business profile, February 2011; U.S. Small Business Administration Women-Owned Businesses In Georgia, the total number of women-owned businesses was 278,250 according to a U.S. Economic Census study conducted in Of these, 30,280 (10.9%) were employers. In Georgia, women-owned businesses generated an estimated $40 billion in revenue in Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 2007 Survey of Business Owners Minority-Owned Businesses Georgia had an estimated 263,439 minority-owned firms, according to a U.S. Economic Census study (2007). Of these, approximately 180,000 were operated by African Americans. This total represented a 103% increase over five years. Approximately 27% (263,439) of all firms in the state are minority run.
