The theme of the Summit The Role of Uganda s Oil and Gas Sector in Achieving NDP-II in line with the strategic Guidelines and Directives in place that are geared towards the attainment of Middle-Income status by The Government of Uganda is committed to develop the oil and gas industry in partnership with all stakeholders in an efficient and effective manner to the benefit of all Ugandans, the region and also create value for our investors. Therefore, we need to form genuine partnerships with International Oil Companies based on principles of transparency and mutual trust. 4 In Summary Now in its third year, the Uganda International Oil & Gas Summit (UIOGS) took place September at the Kampala Serena Hotel, Uganda. Hosted again by President Yoweri K Museveni alongside Hon. Eng. Minister Irene Muloni, and Dr Ernest Rubondo, UIOGS 2017 was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Uganda with the support of the Uganda National Oil Company and Petroleum Authority Uganda. 362 Attendees 125 National and International Companies 27 Participating Companies Welcoming over 360 attendees from across 125 national and international companies, UIOGS once again firmly underlined its position as the must-attend meeting for all stakeholders - both domestic and international, as Uganda s oil and gas industry continues to take important strides forward. The programme examined the future of oil and gas exploration and production in Uganda, setting out the government s vision and implementation for sustainable, long term development and bringing them together with potential private sector partners and other stakeholders, to share announcements and successes and discuss any hurdles that have been encountered. Proceedings were led by a keynote and welcoming address delivered by Gen. Moses Ali, First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament on behalf of President Museveni, who also participated on a ministerial panel alongside Hon. Eng. Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Minerals Development of Uganda, H.E. Gabriel Lima, Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Equatorial Guinea and Amb. Julius B. Onen, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Uganda, directly engaging with a record number of oil and gas industry leaders from throughout the world. 3 Post Event Report
