3 How to apply You must apply for the Young Feminist Leaders Fellowships by Friday May You must apply by 11.59pm Eastern Daylight Time. This is the time in some parts of the USA and the Caribbean. You can find out more on this website: You can only apply for one project. You cannot apply for more than one project or tell us about lots of project ideas. You can apply in English, Spanish or Portuguese. You need to send us some information about your project by to: youth.exchange@opensocietyfoundations.org 3
4 The information we need Please send us some information about your project by . This information is called your Full Proposal. We need: 1 Your resume or CV. This is a document about you and your work. 2 An Executive Summary. This is a short bit of information to tell us the main things about your project. 3 Your proposal. This is where you tell us more about your project. There are some questions for you to answer starting on page 7. There is more information about what we need starting on the next page. 4
5 More about the information we need 1 Your resume or CV. These are documents that say a bit about you and your work. The document you choose should be 2 pages or less. 2 An Executive Summary This is a short bit of information to tell us the main things about your project. It should be 250 words or less. Please tell us: What your project is about and the main things you want your project to do How you will do the project How your project will make difference to other work like this 5
6 3 Your proposal. This is more information about your project. It should be 2000 words or less. There are some questions for you to answer about your project starting on the next page. This will give us the information we need. Please answer all of the questions. Please answer one question at a time. Please use the same question number and title for each question. For example: Question 1. About your project Question 2. What you will do and when 6
7 Question 1. About your project Why is your project important? What do you want to change or make happen? You can use other information to help with your answer if you like. For example, numbers, stories or photos. Question 2. What you will do and when How long will your project take? What are the main things you will do and when will you do them? Will you work on the project for all of the week or just some of the week? Question 3. Why you? Why are you the best person to do this project? What made you want to do the project? Why is now the right time for you to do the project? 7
8 Question 4. Who your project will help Who will your project help? How do you know the place where your project will take place or the people your project will help? What do the people you will help think about the project and the problem you want to solve? Will people in your community or the people you want to help take part in your project? If so, how? Question 5. Training and learning What training and skills would help you do the project well and learn more? For example, you might want to: Learn new skills to help with your project Learn about new ideas for your work Meet people who can help with your work 8
9 Question 6. Host organizations. This is the organization that would support you with your project How can your project help the work of any of the host organizations? Or all of them? There is more information about the host organizations on pages 12 to 16 of the booklet called Part 1 About the Young Feminist Leaders Fellowships Do you have any ideas about: How you could work with the host organization What support you might need from them How can your project really make a difference now and in the future? Question 7. Your future What do you want to do after your project has finished? What do you want to do in the future? 9

11 What happens next Choosing some projects that we think are good Many people will send us project ideas. We will look at them all. We will choose some projects that we think sound good to work on. If we choose your project we will ask you to talk to us about your project. This is called an interview. We could talk to you by phone, video or in person. We will tell you at least 2 weeks before the date of the interview. We will only get in touch if we want to find out more about your project. 11
12 Letters from people you know We will need 2 letters from people you know if we ask you for an interview. The letters could be from anyone you know like a teacher, someone at work or a friend. We want them to write a letter to tell us: Why your project is good Why you are a good person to do the project The letters should be 2 pages or less. 12
13 When things will happen May You must us the information we ask for by this date. June 2019 Week starting June 3 We will get in touch with people we want to meet about their projects. The meeting is called an interview. Week starting June 10 After the interviews we will choose the projects that we want people to work on. We will let people know if we have chosen their projects. 13
14 July 2019 July 15 to 18 The people we choose to do a project will come to a big meeting for a few days. The meeting will talk more about what will happen and what we need from people. People will also learn some important skills for their projects. August to November The people we choose to do projects can do their project in this time. Fall 2020 People who do the projects can come to a meeting run by an organization called AWID.
