3 Biography/History of Florence Christoph was born in Montgomery County and was raised on a farm in Stone Arabia, New York. One of her hobbies was researching her family s genealogy; she discovered that all of her immigrant ancestors were in America before She eventually began a new career as a professional genealogist and was soon nationally certified in the field. From here, she began writing and editing many books; her major projects being multi-volume genealogies of the Schuyler and Van Voorhees families. Other books included Upstate New York in the 1760s; Vital Records of Jerusalem Reformed Church Records, Feura Bush, Albany County, NY; and Schuyler Genealogy: A Compendium of Sources Pertaining to the Schuyler Families in America Prior to She and her husband, Peter Christoph, also co-edited several volumes of colonial New York government documents. She was long an admirer of the artwork of her father-in-law, Hajo Christoph. She was especially proud of having brought his work to the attention of the Albany Institute of History and Art, which now holds many of his landscapes and examples of his commercial work. Scope and Contents of the Records/Papers/Collection The materials included in this collection are specifically research notes based on Albany families.
