3 The Era (London) 23 Sep 1866 Death On the 16 th inst., at Stamford, Orlando Edmonds, Esq. late Managing Director of the Stamford, Spalding and Boston Banking Company, in the 65 th year of his age. The Banker s Magazine Volume 27 (1867 ) p323 Stamford, Spalding, and Boston Banking Company It is with deep regret that the directors record the death of their late managing directori, Mr Orlando Edmonds; his services commenced with the opening of the bank, in 1832, and were maintained with unabated vigour and success until within the last few years, when, in consideration of his declining health, the directors transferred his duties to Mr Savill, as managing director, and to his son, Mr O. Edmonds, as general manager, in whose hands the management will be continued with the entire confidence of the board. The vacancies in the board of directors, occassioned by the death of the late Mr Edmonds, of Stamford, and of the late Mr Walker, of Spilsby, have been filled up by the appointment of Mr Dabbs, of Stamford, and of Mr R. W. Staniland, of Boston, such appointments being subject to confirmation by the shareholders at the present meeting. The directors retiring on this occasion are Mr Hobson, Mr Staniland, Mr Edmonds, and Mr Morris, who offer themselves for re-election. 4 Western Mail (Cardiff, Wales) 5 Apr 1878 Wills and Bequests The will (dated December 28, 1877) of the Rev. Charles Lesingham Smith, rector of Little Canfield, Essex, who died on February 24 last, was proved on the 20 th ult., by Charles Lesingham Maynard Iredell, the nephew, and Miss Eliza Ann Iredell the niece, the executors, the personal estate being sworn under 16,000. Among other bequests, the testator bequeaths his mathematical books, books relating to classical literature and Divinity, his printed portraits of mathematicians and the marble bust of himself done by Hiram Powers at Florence, to the Master and Fellows of Christ College, Cambridge; and to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the portrait of the Rev. Mr Staismore, vicar of Edmonton, by Samuel Cooper, dated 1657, and any other portraits, the trustees of the said museum like to have. The residuary legatees are his nieces, the said Miss Iredell, Miss Sophia Mary Iredell, and Mrs Emma Edmonds.
