1 Step-by-step tutorial: How to complete the online Tier 4 visa application from outside the UK

2 First, read the information on these pages: Then, when you are ready to apply, you can start the application here: Short-Term study visas are normally used for courses of up to 6 months (or 11 months for English Language) Tier 4 Child visa for children attending independent schools (4-17 yrs old) For Undergraduate and postgraduate courses, tick Tier 4 (General)

3 You will be asked to select your nationality/country from a drop-down menu, and then confirm that you can attend an appointment at a relevant visa centre.

4 Once you have answered these initial questions, you are now ready to apply.

5 You will need to register an and password. This will enable you to save the application and return to it later.

6 The form is personalised for each applicant, so some of the questions might look different on your screen. This tutorial is a guide only. Remember to click Save regularly. If you want to stop and finish the form later, click Return to this application later.

7 You will need to input your CAS number which is listed on your CAS Offer letter from Bangor University. CAS letters are not issued to those applying for a Short-Term study visa, only to those applying for a Tier 4 Student visa.

11 In the relationship status box, if you click married, you will be asked to give your spouse/partner s details later in the form.

12 Your nationality is that noted in your passport. The required details will be noted in your passport.

13 Next three pages will ask you to give details of all passports you hold, and any national identity cards

14 You will be given a visa which starts a month before your course start date, or 7 days before your intended date of travel, whichever is later. Date you plan to arrive put the course start date, as listed on the CAS letter here How long do you intend to stay this should be calculated using the end date of your course, as listed on the CAS letter

15 You have the Other option and a drop-down menu will give you different language options.

16 You should only click on Yes here if you have studied in the UK previously in a private, independent school, between the ages of 4 and 17 years old. After clicking on No, you will be asked whether you will be studying at a HEI (and Bangor University is a HEI) and whether the CAS letter confirms that the University has assessed your English language ability. Please check your CAS letter.

17 If the answer to question 2 is NO, you will need to provide evidence of your English language ability, for example an IELTS certificate. This would normally be listed on your CAS letter.

18 If, at the beginning of the form, you stated you were single, you will be asked if anyone is financially dependent on you. If you stated you were married, you will be asked for your spouse s details.

19 Next, you will be asked for your parents details Before moving to the next page, you will be asked if they always had the same nationality. If not, please give more details. You will then be asked about your second parent (if applicable).

20 If you tick, Yes here, you will be asked to give details of the UK based family

21 Travelling as a group, this should be answered No You can give details of someone travelling with you, e.g. parent. If you tick Yes, you will need to give their details.

22 The next few questions are about your accommodation plans. If you tick Yes to the question below, you will be asked to give the address of your accommodation in Bangor. If you tick No, you will be asked about what plans you have to find somewhere to live (see next slide)

23 If you ticked Yes on the previous page, give details of where you will stay If you ticked No, you can mention that you intend to stay in a hotel, for example, and then seek assistance from the University to find accommodation

24 The next questions will ask about your travel history, both to the UK and other countries, and details of any visas you have applied for in the past

26 Next, you will be asked about any convictions, war crimes or terrorist activities. You should answer truthfully

27 Questions about any previous employment

28 Bangor University is your sponsor and the following details should be inputted.

29 You will be studying at a Higher Education institution, and the following address should be given as your Primary site of study.

30 Next two pages ask about UCAS and ATAS. If you applied direct to Bangor, then click No. Only students doing certain courses need an ATAS certificate your CAS letter will confirm this. If you applied vis the UCAS system, click yes, and you will then need to give your UCAS number.

31 An official financial sponsor includes the UK Government or your home Government, a university, or an international company or organisation. If the answer is Yes, then please tick one of the three circles to confirm. If you are self-funding, or being finally supported by your family, click No here

32 Maintenance funds refer to the money you have available to cover your course & living costs. If you are relying on support from your parents, click No and then complete the relevant sections on the following page.

33 Give details of the course you will be studying at Bangor. All the details are on the CAS letter.

34 These payments refer to any fees you have paid to the University Halls Office. You should only tick yes if you have reserved a room in University accommodation. If you have paid any fees to the Halls Office, please give details here If you intend to live in private accommodation, off campus, tick no.

35 The remaining course fees are listed on your CAS letter. If you paid any fees after receiving the CAS letter, you can tick yes and provide evidence (e.g. receipts)

37 This is the end of the form. You will be given an opportunity to check your answers, and make any changes or corrections prior to submitting. You will then be asked to confirm what Financial documents you will be using In support of your application Once you click, save & continue from this page, the list of documents you must provide with your application will be listed

39 To complete and submit the application, you need to make two payments: 1. the Immigration Health surcharge, and then 2. the visa fee You cannot edit or change your answers once you have paid the IHS, so please check your previous answers before making payment

40 Fee payments and next steps You will have to pay both the Immigration Health Surcharge and the actual visa fee before being able to finish the application. Once paid, you will then be taken to the next stages of the visa application process: - confirm your BRP collection location (2HE592) - sign the declaration - book an appointment - collect your documents (the list of documents will be listed for you) - print out the application - you will need to take the printed application, along with all your supporting documents to your visa appointment. It is likely that you will have to attend a credibility interview, where you will be asked about Bangor University, your course, finances and plans for the future. 41 BRP COLLECTION You must collect your BRP within 10 days of arriving to the UK. In order to be able to do that, you will need to have the decision letter which will be sent to you once your visa has been approved. To collect your BRP in Bangor: Enter 2HE592 in the Alternative Location box and click Find in the visa application. Your BRP will then be ready to collect when you register at Bangor University.
