Starfish finger puppet Under each arm of a starfish are tiny tube feet, which it uses for walking. The mouth is underneath and, as the starfish moves along rocky surfaces and muddy bottoms, it feeds on living and dead animals. Orange and red colouring pens or pencils Colour in your starfish. Colour the body and arms of the starfish to make a mottled effect using the orange and red. Or you can have it plain orange if you prefer. Cut carefully around the outline of the starfish. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed starfish at the front and a tube for your finger at the back. Registered charity no
Oystercatcher finger puppet There are two types of oystercatchers: the hammerers that hammer the shells open with their beaks and the chiselers, which prise the shells open. Orange and black colouring pens or pencils Colour in your oystercatcher. Colour the beak orange and the head, neck and upper parts black. The underparts and the middle wing bar are white, so you don t need to colour these. Cut carefully around the outline of the oystercatcher. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed bird at the front and a tube for your finger at the back. Regd charity no
Gannet finger puppet Bigger than any gull, this huge, white seabird dives from heights of 30 m (100 ft) to catch fish. Yellow and black/grey colouring pens or pencils Colour in your gannet. Colour the beak grey (you could use a black pencil lightly), the head and neck yellow, and the eye black. Their feathers are mostly white, so you don t need to colour them. Cut carefully around the outline of the gannet. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed bird at the front and a tube for your finger at the back. Registered charity no
Moon jellyfish finger puppet These beautiful jellyfish are found worldwide and the adult jellyfish, known as a medusa, can grow as large as 45 cm (16 in) in diameter. They swim by pulsing the bell, which pushes them forward in the water. Pink colouring pen or pencil Colour in your moon jellyfish. It is mostly see-through with no colour but there are tinges of light pink on its body. Cut carefully around the outline of the jellyfish. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. With the front of the puppet facing you, take hold of one end of the puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed jellyfish at the front and a tube for your finger at the back Regd charity no
Six-spot burnet moth finger puppet Look out for this brightly coloured moth in flowery grasslands and coastal areas. It likes to fly during the daytime. Black and red colouring pens or pencils Colour in your six-spot burnet moth. Colour the lower wings and the spots on the upper wings red. The rest of the moth is black. Cut carefully around the outline of the moth. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. With the front of the puppet facing you, take hold of one end of the puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed moth at the front and a tube for your finger at the back. Regd charity no
Crab finger puppet You can find common shore crabs in rock pools or shallow water at the beach. Eating whatever they can get their claws on, they use their strong claws to crack mussel shells and for fighting. Brown and orange colouring pens or pencils Colour in your crab. Colour the shell and legs to make a mottled effect using the brown and orange. Cut carefully around the outline of the crab. Cut along the two dashed lines of the finger puppet; only cut as far as the end of the dashed line. puppet outline and roll it round behind, so that one slot fits into the other (see diagram). You should now have a completed crab at the front and a tube for your finger at the back. Regd charity no
