3 Parallel Lines... NEVER intersect. Have the same slope. Have a different y-intercept. Example: y = ½ x + 1 and y = ½ x - 2
4 Perpendicular Lines... Intersect to form a right angle. The slopes are opposite reciprocals. The y-intercepts do not matter. Example: y = ½ x + 4 and y = -2x + 9.
5 Intersecting Lines... If lines intersect but do not form a right angle, they are neither parallel nor perpendicular. Slopes are not equal and not opposite reciprocals.
6 Are the graphs of 4y = -5x + 12 and y = ⅘ x - 8 parallel, perpendicular, or neither?
