1 Top 10 Books Soldier X By Don Wullfson It's the 1940's and 17 year old Eric Brandt is a German boy has just been shipped away to fight the Russians. On the way to the war zone their truck gets attacked by Soviet planes. One of Eric's friends gets killed. When they finally arrive to the German base Eric realizes just how horrible war is. Later the Russians attack. Surprisingly the Germans lose the battle. But Eric decides to play dead for the Russians. When no one was looking he stole the uniform of a Russian soldier and pretends to have amnesia. Luckily he speaks fluent Russian. He is sent to a Russian hospital. But the town get attacked and he must run away with his lover. Can he hold up this charade forever? This book is an AMAZING read. Not only is it action packed but it is also a love story. I encourage everybody to read this book. 2.Brian's Winter By: Gary Paulsen Brian's Winter is about a boy named Brian who's plane had

2 crashed in the northern Canadian wilderness. He had survived in the summer for almost two months, but now winter is coming. Brian must fight to survive the harsh Canadian winter. I really enjoyed this book and I suggest you read it. 3.Hatchet By: Gary Paulsen Hatchet is the prequel to Brian's Winter. Brian has to change his way of life when his plane crashed in the Canadian wilderness. He must fend off animals, search for food and ultimately get rescued. I also enjoyed this book. Personally I thought that Brian's Winter was more exciting. 4.Son of the Mob By: Gordon Korman 17 year old Vince is just a normal kid. Except for his dad, who is a powerful New York mob boss. Vince wants nothing to do with his dads business but instead he opens his trunk to find a knocked out Jimmy. This book was really funny and I enjoyed it allot. I suggest not only reading this book, but all of the books by Gordon Korman. 5.The Lightning Thief

3 By: Rick Rioardan The Lightning Thief is the first book in a series about a boy named Percy. He discovers that not only are the gods of Greek mythology real, but his father is Poseidon. He must find the stolen lightning bolt before he is punished for a crime he didn't commit. I really liked this book but it is kind of predictable. But I would still suggest this book. 6.The House on Hackman's Hill By: Joan Lowery Nixon It's summer and best friends Jeff and Debby are thirsty for adventure. So they decide to hunt for a mummy in the supposedly haunted house on Hackman's hill. But when a storm hits they have to spend a night in this creepy old mansion. I really liked this book. It sort of scared me the first time I read it. I suggest this book if you want to read something scary. 7.City of Bones By:Cassandra Clare When Clary's house gets attacked by a demon her mother

4 disappears. Then she gets approached by a mysterious man named Jace. He claims to be a shadow hunter, someone who fights demons. He then shows her a world of magic and mythical creatures that no human has ever seen. This book was really good and had kind of a disturbing ending. I suggest this book to anyone who is in for a good read. 8.Eragon By: Christopher Paolini A boy named Eragon lives a peaceful life with his uncle on his farm. But all that changes when he discovers a dragon egg. The leader of this nation wants that egg for himself. So he sends mercanerys to kill Eragon. Eragon runs away with an old and wise man who teachs Eragon magic. I enjoyed this book but I thought that it should have been broken up into 2 or 3 smaller books. 9.Schooled By: Gordon Korman Cap Anderson is a Hippy. He lives on a farm with his grandmother. But she falls and hurts herself. Cap moves in with his aunt and must learn the ways of real life, high school and girls. This book was really funny and enjoyable. I would reccomend this book.

5 10.The Last Olympian By: Rick Rioardan This is the last in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series. Percy must defend New York from an onslaught of monsters. He must also take a huge risk to balance the fight. I thought that this was the worst book in the series. It was very predictable and the plot lines were used over and over again. Criteria Some of the thing I used to rank these books are the intensity, memorability, twists and the interest level. I think if a book has a good level of all these it will be great. Don Wulffson.
