The BCC Blue Ridge Show and Sale was held at the National Guard Armory as it has been since What a wonderful collection of dealers from all across the country, from as far away as California. Some really rare, one of a kind items were on display items that have only been seen in the Blue Ridge books. Loyal customers lined up outside the Armory to get first dibs on the unusual, and they weren't disappointed. Dealers provided numerous door prizes that were given away randomly about every 15 to 30 minutes. Door prizes consisted of a variety of items such as Blue Ridge shirts, Blue Ridge serving pieces, and embroidered bags, just to name a few. Show Snapshots Who says they're NOT LUCKY... Did you know that Blue Ridge boot vases were only made in an 8 tall size? Boot vases in other sizes (both smaller and larger) were made in Japan and made by other pottery manufacturers, not Southern Potteries, Inc. Did you know that Blue Ridge pottery is dishwasher safe (although not recommended because of the danger of breakage) and that it has been tested and found not to leech lead? That during the 30's & 40's American and foreign potteries copied from each other, not only in styles but patterns as well? There are indications that Southern Potteries was sued for patent or copyright infringement for copying the French Peasant, Lyonnaise, Calais, and Brittany patterns from French potter, Henriot Quimper's designs. At first glance they appear the same; however, if you look closely at the two products, there are very subtle differences which accounts for the two products often being misidentified.
