He first entered the numismatic world at the age of eight, as a collector, and established his first business in 1974 at The Perry Hall Coin Shop. Gwyn owned and operated numerous coin shops in the Montgomery Ward stores in Baltimore and D.C., as well as in Woodward and Lothrup in Silver Spring and in D.C. He later owned and operated The Fallston Coin and Jewelry shop in Harford Co. and now works out of his office, trading as Free State Numismatics, Inc. Gwyn is a certified appraiser of estates, specializing in silver and gold antiquities, jewelry, and rare U.S. coins and paper money. He holds professional memberships in the American Numismatics Association (Life member) and in PCGS, and NGC certification services. Gwyn travels extensively throughout the U. Brad started his auction career with Rick Opfer, for his first year in the business. He was immediately taken with the business and attended the Repperts School of Auctioneering in Indiana and returned to Opfer Auctioneering for one more year. He then freelanced for several auctioneers over the next several years, gaining a wide variety of experience. For the past 10 years, Brad worked as an auctioneer with Steve Dance of the Milton J. Dance Auction Co., for a total of 25 years as an auctioneer. Throughout Brad s career as an auctioneer it has always been his dream to have an auction house, applying all of the experience that he has accumulated and sharing that with each of his consignors.
