25 You don t need to believe in Tarot cards. Select a deck with images on all the cards. I use the Rider-Waite deck because the imagery is active. Throw away the Little White Book, and don t worry about memorizing. Rely on the impressions you get from the cards. There are no correct answers, only what is correct for you. Think of this as sign language between you and your intuition. Create a ritual. This can include how you shuffle the cards and how many times you shuffle them, as well as having a special space or accessories. Consistency signals your brain that it s time to be intuitive. Set your rules before you pull cards, whether you will include reversals, etc. Formulate your questions carefully. You need the right combination of specificity and open-endedness to generate meaningful responses. Yes/No questions are often the least productive. Draw your layout first, identify the card positions and the order in which you plan to draw the cards. Keep layouts simple. Trust the cards. Don t second guess or redo the reading. Assume your intuition is sending you the best answer to your question. If you get gibberish, it may mean you are asking the wrong questions, but meditate on the cards you pull first. Drawing a card a day and journalling how that card relates to the day s events is a terrific way to develop a personal relationship with the Tarot.
