If you aren t familiar with Alex Tiper, he has been a coach on my training site, FloatTheTurn.com since Alex is a very successful low stakes online multi-table tournament player. Before Alex became a coach for FloatTheTurn, I actually started coaching him privately on a regular basis. I also recorded these coaching sessions. Now you can get access to our first coaching video FREE! In this 32-minute coaching video, I coach Alex through the early stages of a $55 multi-table tournament that I played online. 3 Preview of Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 5 Rather than tell you about my Kindle book, Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 5, I created this PDF to let you experience it for yourself. This PDF contains 5 complete hand examples taken from the book. The book contains 50 hand examples taken from small stake, fast structured tournaments. If you want to become a large winner at the game, you must learn to think for yourself. My book is laid out so you can think about the play you would make before going to the next page, where my actual play is revealed. You should spend a lot of time thinking about each and every decision in order to come up with your answer, as well as the reason for your answer, before looking at my answer. If your answer differs from mine, try to figure out why. Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 5, which includes 50 hand examples, is available on Amazon: You can read my Kindle book on your PC, Mac, ipad, iphone, ipod Touch, or Android device. Get Your Free Kindle Reading App Here: If you would like to personally ask me questions, I host a live webinar each month at my training site, FloatTheTurn.com. If you ve never tried my site before, you can sign up for a free 1-month membership by visiting floattheturn.com/free and entering promo code CRUSH. You'll have a full month of access to over 600 poker training videos to help you improve your game. I hope you find these hand examples helpful. Please share this PDF with anyone you think will benefit from reading it. Jonathan Little Follow me on
Situation 004 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 145 Blind Level: 3 25/50 Blinds: 75 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A6o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets??? Action leading up: The action folds to Hero in the CO. What should Hero do?
Response 004 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 145 Blind Level: 3 25/50 Blinds: 75 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A6o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Fold Hero s action: Hero folds. Strategic Concept: Implied Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Early Stage. A6o is a marginal hand with high reverse implied odds meaning Hero is likely to win a small pot or lose a big pot. It is best to avoid tricky situations when you can.
Situation 010 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 95 Blind Level: 6 100/200 Blinds: 300 Antes: 0 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB ATs Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets??? Action leading up: The action folds to Hero in MP. note: Hero has recently pushed twice in a row. What should Hero do?
Response 010 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 95 Blind Level: 6 100/200 Blinds: 300 Antes: 0 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB ATs Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Push Hero s action: Hero pushes. Strategic Concept: Easy Push and Table Image Analysis: The tournament is in the Middle Stage. Hero has just pushed twice, so his image is starting to appear loose. However, the blinds will be going up before Hero gets back in position and antes start at the next blind level. Hero is short stacked and in middle position. Hero pushes something like 25% of hands. ATs is plenty good enough.
Situation 013 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 80 Blind Level: 7 125/250/25 Blinds: 375 Antes: 225 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB 98s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 250 Call 250??? Action leading up: There are two limpers before the action gets to Hero in the HJ. What should Hero do?
Response 013 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 80 Blind Level: 7 125/250/25 Blinds: 375 Antes: 225 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB 98s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 250 Call 250 Push Hero s action: Hero pushes. Strategic Concept: Dead Money and Playing the Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Middle Stage. Hero has a good restealing stack and the chips on the table equal about 20% of his stack. Even if Hero gets called, he likely has a decent amount of equity. Notice there is no reason to limp because Hero will have a tough time winning the pot unless he flops the best hand. By pushing, you sometimes win with the worst hand and also force your opponents off hands that have some equity.
Situation 025 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 29 Blind Level: /800/75 Blinds: 1200 Antes: 675 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB Q3o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets??? Action leading up: The action folds to Hero in the HJ. note: Hero pushed the previous hand. What should Hero do?
Response 025 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 29 Blind Level: /800/75 Blinds: 1200 Antes: 675 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB Q3o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Fold Hero s action: Hero folds. Strategic Concept: Easy Fold and Table Image Analysis: The tournament is In the Middle Stage. After adjusting for antes, Hero has about 4BBs. Hero has some fold equity but he has just pushed, meaning he will now have decreased fold equity. He is also a little too early and his hand is too weak to justify pushing.
Situation 047 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 4 Blind Level: /5000/500 Blinds: 7500 Antes: 2000 Position UTG empty empty Button SB BB Q9o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Raise to 10000??? Action leading up: The action folds to the SB, who min-raises. The action is on Hero in the BB. What should Hero do?
Response 047 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 4 Blind Level: /5000/500 Blinds: 7500 Antes: 2000 Position UTG empty empty Button SB BB Q9o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Raise to Push Hero s action: Hero pushes. Strategic Concept: Running Over the Table and Table Dynamics Analysis: The tournament is Short Handed at the Final Table. With the short stack on the button, Hero expects the SB to fold to a push a decent amount of the time. It is important to note that if the SB normally raises only with strong hands, Hero should tend to fold, as he will have little fold equity.
