5 NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS When I designed the fragrance for the Night Before Christmas, it was well before I had become an Australian or experienced an Australian Christmas. I had to rely on my imagination to create the scent of Christmas for Glasshouse Fragrances. For me, to imagine Christmas in Summer is to dream of celebrations with loved ones and friends gathered around sharing rare and exotic treats, fresh produce, and exquisite wines in a glamorous, lively alfresco setting. When you experience the fragrance, try to imagine the scent of abundant fruits such as Red Currants, Plums and Citrus alongside the traditional spicy notes that have been loved for centuries at Christmas celebrations all over the world. 7 WHITE CHRISTMAS When I dreamed up the fragrance for White Christmas, I thought almost exclusively of the scents of a New York Christmas. Christmas time in Manhattan is an absolutely magical time and the city is transformed. Vendors illuminate most street corners with rows of intensely fragrant spruce trees which had been freshly cut from their trunks and bundled up with string days before. Steaming roasted chestnuts waft from carts and fill the streets. At home for groups of friends, my Mother would create her own mulled wine in a big steaming pot. This pot was filled with a dark, sweet wine. Orange slices, cinnamon sticks and star anise bobbed in the brew while filling the house with its distinct perfume. These are the scents of my childhood holidays and this expression is what I tried to capture in Glasshouse Fragrances White Christmas. Nicole Eckels Co-Founder.
