Each interlocking large format tile has a mock central groove and distinctive double camber, giving the authentic appearance of two traditional plain tiles. To complete the traditional plain tile look, DuoPlain tiles come in four different colours and with a comprehensive range of ridge, valley and eaves systems, vent tiles and fixings - all guaranteed to remain secure and weathertight for at least 15 years. DuoPlain are laid 'single lap' yet achieve classic 'double lap' looks with only one-third as many tiles. Using fewer tiles saves costs because installation is quicker and creates less waste. It also reduces roof weight. 5 the perfect profile performance guaranteed At Lafarge Roofing, we understand the importance of kerb appeal. We know that beautiful roofs are key to the visual appeal of housing developments and need to be in sympathy with local architecture. We also recognise that planning restrictions, budgetary pressures and completion deadlines are ever-present in our industry. That's why we've gone to great lengths to give DuoPlain the same good looks as traditional plain tiles in a cost-effective, user-friendly system. Double cambered DuoPlain As with all Lafarge Roofing products, DuoPlain tiles combine innovation, experience and technical know-how. Innovation enabled us to make an interlocking large format tile that looks just like two traditional plain tiles. Using computer aided design, we scanned a number of tile profiles and kept experimenting with different depths and widths until we found the most authentic-looking mock-bond joint. Experience told us that roof tiles need to be strong, light and easy to install. We know that broken tiles cost time and money. That's why we stress-tested CAD models of DuoPlain to ensure they would withstand the loads that tiles experience on actual roofs, while practical 'Breaking Strength' tests made sure DuoPlain would bear the weight of a 14-stone roofer. Technical know-how ensures that all of our DuoPlain tiles, fittings and components can stand up to extreme weather conditions. After rigorous performance testing in our unique, stateof-the-art wind tunnel, we then subjected the tiles to conditions replicating the UV rays of the blazing sun and the sub-zero temperatures of the Arctic. That's why only Redland roofs are guaranteed to be secure and weathertight for at least 15 years. On gable to gable roofs try and lay out the tiles so that the eaves course starts with a Standard Tile and finishes with a LH Verge (Three Quarter) Tile. At right-hand verges use Standard Tiles and RH Verge (Three Quarter) Tiles in alternate courses. At left-hand verges use Standard Tiles with interlocks removed and LH Verge (Three Quarter) Tiles in alternate courses. If it is not possible to end the eaves course in this way, cut verge tiles of the required length from Tile-and-a-halves. Dependent on the length of the eaves course it may be necessary to cut tiles when finishing a left-hand verge or abutment. Use Tile-and-a-halves cut to the required width where necessary. Do not use any cut pieces of tile smaller than a LH Verge (Three Quarter) Tile. At hips and valleys use Tile-and-a-halves on each course either side. At side abutments, allow for cover flashing and secret gutter. Fixing Specification We recommend that our customers obtain a FixMaster specification for tiles and battens. The service is free and provides the most cost-effective fixing specification that complies with British Standards. It includes a full assessment of the impact of all nearby man-made and topographical features and removes the potential for roof failure.
