2 Sudoku Xtra Welcome to Sudoku Xtra, packed with top-quality logic puzzles of many different types, with a particular focus on Sudoku ariants. All of the puzzles are language-neutral and hae a unique solution which can be found ia sensible logical deduction, with guessing neer required. Ultimazum returns this issue by popular demand, and I e also taken the opportunity to introduce some etra sudoku ariants, Kropki Sudoku, Sudoku XV and my own Integer Multiple Sudoku. There s also a twist on an eisting popular type, with Non-consecutie Sudoku. From this issue I e increased the page size slightly (since I no longer need to support Lulu, thanks to epanded Amaz on aailability) & merged the contributed puzzles that were preiously in a separate part into the main section. Although they re still all together at the back in this issue the new design allows me to use them throughout the magazine whereer they fit best. heck out for other issues and subscriptions, and links to the pre-printed ersions - now aailable on Amaz on stores worldwide. 3 Sudoku Xtra >> Yajilin Draw a single loop using only horizontal and ertical lines such that the loop does not pass through any square more than once. > Any squares which the loop does not isit must be shaded, but none of these shaded squares can touch in either a horizontal or ertical direction. > Numbers with arrows indicate the eact number of shaded squares in a gien direction in a specific row or column, but not all shaded squares are necessarily identified with arrows. 4 Sudoku Xtra >> alcudoku Place the numbers to (or to ) once each into eery row and column of the grid, while obeying the alcudoku region totals. > The alue at the top-left of each bold-lined region must be obtained when all of the numbers in that region hae the gien operation (+, -,, ) applied between them. For - and operations start with the largest number in the region and then subtract or diide by the other numbers. > Remember that you can repeat a number within a bold-lined region, unlike in Killer Sudoku, so long as you obey the row/column restraints

5 Sudoku Xtra >> Slitherlink Draw a single loop by connecting together the dots so that each numbered square has the specified number of adjacent line segments. > Dots can only be joined by straight horizontal or ertical lines. > The loop cannot touch, cross or oerlap itself in any way.

Any row or column not entirely within a single grid has no restriction on its content.

13 Sudoku Xtra >> Heyawake Shade some cells, such that no two shaded cells are adjacent, ecept diagonally, and all unshaded cells form a single continuous area. > Any single horizontal or ertical line of unshaded cells cannot traerse more than one bold line. > Numbered cells may or may not be shaded, but always gie the precise amount of shaded cells in a bold-lined region.

14 Sudoku Xtra >> Kakuro Place a digit from to into each white square to sole the clues. > Each horizontal run of white squares adds up to the total aboe the diagonal line to the left of the run, and each ertical run of white squares adds up to the total below the diagonal line aboe the run. > No digit can be used more than once in any run.

15 Sudoku Xtra >> Futoshiki Place to,, or once each into eery row and column while obeying the inequality signs. > Less than ( < ) and greater than ( > ) signs between some squares indicate that the alues in these two squares must be greater than or less than one another as indicated by the sign. The sign always points towards the smaller number.

16 Sudoku Xtra >> Killer Sudoku Place each of to into eery row, column and bo while obeying the cage totals. > The contents of each dashed line cage must sum to the total gien at the top-left. > You cannot repeat a number within a dashed line cage.

17 Sudoku Xtra >> Skyscraper Place each of to, to or to into eery row and column. > Each number in the completed grid represents a building of that many storeys. Place the buildings in such a way that each gien number outside the grid represents the number of buildings that can be seen from that point, looking only at that number s row or column. > A building with a higher alue always obscures a building with a lower alue, while a building with a lower alue neer obscures a building with a higher alue.
