T G Mouse Trap R *no mice were harmed in the making of this challenge
T Prior Knowledge/Research Students have already been introduced to the following content and procedural training: Lab Safety Measuring Sketching Simple Machines (Lever, screw, wedge, etc.) Math Formulas (Circumference, Distance, etc.)

T Problem Congratulations! You and your team have been invited to compete in the 2017 Tom and Jerry grand national racing event. Your team must create a vehicle that will travel the furthest distance to be victorious in this event.
T Materials You will have the following materials to create your vehicle: 1 Mouse Trap 2 CDs 2 hub washers 1 Cardboard disk 2 skewers 6 tongue depressors 24 of string 12 of tape 1 hot glue stick
T Specifications Your vehicle must be created using only the materials given You must complete the prototype within the time period All parts of this prototype must be attached to the chassis You may not cut or disassemble the mousetrap, however you may attach items to it Your prototype must move at least 2 m The prototype that moves the furthest distance wins
T Hints What kind of simple machine is a mouse trap? How can we harness the and of a mouse trap? How can we transform the snapping mechanism of a mouse trap to a rotating motion to turn a wheel? Be mindful of your materials, choose when to use hot glue and tape wisely
