In Key Stage 4, the compulsory subjects English, mathematics, science and physical education are taught explicitly. All students study a humanities based subject which includes ASDAN, Geography, History and Religious Studies. In addition, students choose three option subjects at the end of Year 9. The PHSCEE curriculum is covered through the tutorial programme for Year 11 and drop-down days, but for Year 10, students have explicit lessons called ethics. Year 11 also have 2 tutorial intervention sessions where they study additional English, Maths or Science. For the compulsory subjects students are arranged in two bands of equal ability. Within these bands they are placed in ability sets for English, mathematics and science. Option subjects and humanities are taught in mixed ability groups. The number of lessons per fortnight for each subject is shown in the table below.
