1 Our Experience Having spent the last decade developing technological solutions, FastTrack has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in establishing and maintaining tools and documentation services, both centralized and decentralized. CIS-Net illustrates FastTrack s knowledge and experience through the successful deployment of technical tools that meet the business requirements of CMOs. This knowledge and experience can be useful to the entire Music Industry. 2 Towards 2020 CIS-Net has helped improve international data exchange; yet important work remains to be done in this realm. FastTrack is focusing on a new concept in the context of the current challenges of the music industry requiring a different approach to the management of metadata and the need for an authoritative view of works information. FastTrack is now working on an initial vision and a model for the future of CIS-Net. This new concept would be structured around the three following main pillars of our vision: Deliver an authoritative certified view on musical works for a country, a usage and a period of time; Engage with the major trends in our industry and interconnect hubs/ documentation centers as certified sources of data; Cooperate with all stakeholders. FastTrack, in close cooperation with CISAC, is working to transform this vision into a project. According to FastTrack Board s decision to extend our services and our users, the governance of FastTrack would need to be thoroughly revisited to make sure FastTrack is opened to new stakeholders such as Publishers and Creators representatives. CIS-Net powered by FastTrack portal is available to the entire CISAC community. 5 Our Activities Facilitating the exchange of copyright information Developing and maintaining "CIS-Net powered by FastTrack" portal for Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) CIS-Net is the leading international transactional platform for the exchange of music and audio-visual authorship, ownership and agreements information CIS-Net serves more than 120 CMOs members of CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers), which administer intellectual property rights in more than 100 countries CIS-Net is a combined database of works, representing more than 33,6 million unique works FastTrack continues to expand the capabilities of this global platform using state-of-the-art web-enabled technology Serving our global alliance FastTrack accomplishes its mission through a global alliance among Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) FastTrack creates an alliance dedicated to setting a worldwide standard for serving its members FastTrack s collaborative work is built on the adoption of common best practices and the sharing of the technological expertise and the development costs between Shareholder Societies. Benefits FastTrack tools have been and are continuously developed for the benefit of the Songwriters, Composers and Music Publishers represented by each society involved in our network. Thanks to the efforts of the FastTrack teams, FastTrack tools are largely scaleable and could be made available to other stakeholders in the future. The sharing of technological expertise and development costs, combined with the power of a network computing architecture using the Internet, is delivering substantial benefits for the rightsholders represented by Collective Management Societies using CIS-Net powered by FastTrack, resulting in backoffice savings.
