1 Educator Guide
2 Introduction Over the nearly 20 year history, the Museum is proud to have touched the lives of, and inspired, over a half a million people through its significant visual art offerings. W Using the resources of the Coral Springs Museum of Art is educational, creative and fun! We hope this guide will inspire you and your students to see that art is, indeed, everywhere! hat began late in 1996 as a City project to build a comprehensive recreational and community center, soon turned into The Coral Springs Center for the Arts. Housed in the impressive 30,000 square foot center for the arts building is the equally impressive Coral Springs Museum of Art. With its beautiful, open architectural design, coupled with its warm and inviting ambiance, the Museum is unlike any other cultural institution - it is a unique place for all to experience the passion and beauty of the visual arts. Throughout the Museum s tenure, the philosophy that art is for everyone remains, and the Museum is unwavering in its commitment to change the perception often associated with art museums. In addition to its impressive indoor galleries, the Museum is proud of its outdoor art experiences which include an International Peace Garden and various sculptures surrounded by lush, eco-friendly landscaping, all of which inspire peace and harmony. The Museum's tribute to the Everglades a 54 x 17 foot, hand crafted wall showcases the habitat and beauty of the Florida Everglades through over 1,000 3x3 relief ceramic clay tiles. Also, peppered throughout the grounds are larger than life orange slices, a mystic himalama, 'Mindscape' by Yoshin Ogata, and a massive, beautiful mosaic chair to take in all of the splendor of this outdoor gallery. Bring the Museum to your school Our classroom outreaches bring the Coral Springs Museum of Art s professional artists directly to your school. Programs run 60 minutes in length and include the instructors and all supplies needed for fun and creative hands on projects that are aligned with Florida State Standards in each subject area.
