6 6 Factory planning next steps Congress + Our Vision n The World will change over the next 20 years as much as it has done over the last 100 years. n Individual disciplines currently work isolated from one another. Today, it is necessary to integrate and bridge these different disciplines. n It will be possible to reduce planning costs by 50% and improve flexibility through integrated production systems and building design. n The factory of the future is more than just a factory it is a living space providing an improved quality of life. n A turbulent environment requires innovative organisational structures. Like a professional deep-sea sailing team, planners will have to react quickly and agilely to unexpected new developments. n In the future the competitiveness of manufacturing companies will be significantly determined by their factories as well as by their excellent planning. Breaking New Ground The intention of this congress is to shape the future of the factory and factory planning. The programme and the visitors to the congress are composed of interdisciplinary experts who will address topics from their perspective to establish a common and universal target. The challenges for the future will be addressed from the perspective of architects, civil engineers, production and factory planners and the owners. Subsequently, two parallel sessions will be held focusing on the planning process and future factory concepts. We do not want to draw a picture of the factory of the future just from our point of view, we want to create this picture in collaboration with our visitors. We are determined to develop creative and innovative ideas through an open and interdisciplinary dialogue. By providing a world café, we would like to foster creativity and enable you to discuss the presentations and share your thoughts in an innovative environment. By following this open approach, we wish to connect everyone and create synergies which will utilise your full creative potential.

7 The Target Group Factory planning next steps 7 Production & Factory Planners The planning of a production system has changed significantly throughout the last few years. Uncertainty and decreased time budgets require a parallelised and interlinked planning while an increased demand for efficiency leads to a value-oriented planning. Confronted with these challenges, we want to develop and discuss new planning approaches. We are convinced that intelligent planning can halve the costs and time during the planning phase. Architects The factory of the future is more than a production facility and work space, it creates and enhances quality of life. Innovative companies from the IT business provide role models for designing high-quality work environments. This aspect will gain more and more relevance in the battle for high-potential employees. In addition, new obstacles arise reintegration of the factory into an urban environment regarding emissions, use and architecture. We would like to invite you to discuss the trends and innovative solutions for the factory of the future. Civil Engineers The building phase is crucial for the early success of the factory. It determines whether the planned SOP can be achieved. Lean construction plays a central role in this context as it has the ability to massively decrease the required time. Furthermore, the application of innovative building structures and materials facilitate a quick realisation and sustainability on an ecological and economic level. Support us in revolutionising industrial buildings as well as their realisation process. Owners The factory of the future will be vastly different from what we know as a factory today. It is a highly-efficient manufacturing site, possesses an intelligent energy management system and a self-optimising production. Furthermore, Industry 4.0, the connection of product, production and IT will provide completely new ways of manufacturing. Join us in designing the manufacturing process of the future!
