1 Master in Management and Engineering (M. Sc.) in Technology, Innovation, Marketing and Entrepreneurship A program delivered in partnership with Cambridge Digital Innovation at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge
2 Welcome to Aachen The pace of the digital transformation we are witnessing is staggering. Industrial production is becoming digitized with the emergence of Industry 4.0 and established industries are toppled by agile start-ups with more appealing business models. These radical changes also put new demands on the skills and tools that high-achieving professionals need to acquire. Future managers and entrepreneurs will need to deal with both sides of the equation. They will need to possess the technical knowledge necessary to understand emerging technologies as well as the managerial skills to build profitable business models around them. The Master in Management and Engineering in Technology, Innovation, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship (MME-TIME) has been developed to enable you to acquire these skills. In our program, you will not only learn about the latest developments in a broad set of technology fields including laser technologies, digital and additive manufacturing, robotics, big data, and sustainable energy. You will also learn how to leverage these technologies to lead the technological transformation in your industry. Our program will take you to some of the most exciting innovation ecosystems. is one of the leading integrated universities of technology in Europe and a place where the future of our industrialized world is thought out. Cambridge and Boston, where you may also complete parts of the program, are among the most innovative regions in the world, replete with world-class universities, vibrant startups, and blue-chip technology companies. You will enjoy a unique learning experience where theory and practice go hand in hand and where you will quickly apply your new knowledge on real-world challenges. The program also allows you to study at your own pace and enjoy the advantages of a blended learning format, enabling you to complete your studies at your home location or on-campus in Aachen, Cambridge, and Boston. To sum it up: The program allows you to design your own learning experience! We look forward to welcoming you to the program and the MME community! Prof. Torsten-Oliver Salge, Ph.D Academic Director MME-TIME and Head of Innovation, Strategy and Organization Group at 2 3
3 Discover the MME-TIME advantage Benefit from five key strengths Designed for professionals with a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) background, the MME-TIME provides you with the skills and tools needed to succeed in the digitized economy. The program is offered by one of the leading integrated universities of technology in Europe,, with close to 150 years of expertise in producing cutting-edge research and Cambridge Digital Innovation at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge. In the course of the program, you will learn the latest developments in laser technologies, digital and additive manufacturing, robotics, big data technologies, sustainable energy technologies, and many more. These technological modules will be accompanied by a profound management education where you will learn how to leverage and commercialize these technologies successfully. Graduates of the program will have a truly interdisciplinary mindset that is necessary for solving the great technological, managerial, and societal challenges of our time. Hence, the program is ideally suited for professionals with a STEM background that wish to deepen their knowledge on stateof-the-art technologies, but also aim for a management position in their next career step. An entirely distinctive element is the possibility to tailor the program around the needs and time frame of the participants. With the help of the latest digital and blended learning technologies, you can choose to study mainly from your home location or from Aachen and can also study at your own preferred pace. Personalize your study path: The program is organized around you, allowing for an optimal learning experience. Enrolling in the MME-TIME will help you to prepare for a career in the digitized economy and allow you to benefit from five key advantages: #1 #2 #3 Excellent reputation enjoys an excellent reputation across the world for cutting-edge research in engineering and technology and is synonymous with German engineering. Interdisciplinary thinking The courses in the program will help you acquire advanced knowledge in both management and engineering and will equip you with a truly interdisciplinary profile and mindset that are increasingly sought after in corporations and start-ups alike. Fully customizable The entire program is structured around your individual needs and you can decide if you want to study full-time or part-time, at your home location or on-campus in Aachen, Cambridge, or Boston. This will allow you to build an optimal learning path. In a world where the pace of technological change is becoming faster and faster, professionals who can talk the language of both managers and engineers will have a strong competitive advantage and will be increasingly sought after by companies. Günther Schuh, Professor of Production Engineering, #4 #5 Mixed pedagogy The program uses a wide range of learning styles and teaching methods. Lectures, case studies, applied projects, group work, topical debates, and lab sessions provide a varied and lively learning experience with small class sizes. Leadership potential Acquire the skills and tools to manage organizational as well as technological changes and learn how to lead the digital transformation in your industry through innovation, marketing, and entrepreneurship. High-tech entrepreneurs not only need the managerial skills to transform a good idea into a profitable business model but also the technological knowledge to recognize a good idea when they see one. Malte Brettel, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Serial Entrepreneur, In today s digital age, innovation increasingly happens where distinct technology fields meet. Those that know how to discover and leverage connections between technology fields will be uniquely positioned to drive technological transformation. Michael Barrett, Professor of Information Systems and Innovation Studies and Head of Cambridge Digital Innovation, University of Cambridge 4 5
