4 10 Steps to Mindfulness Meditation Create Time & Space Find a place free from distraction Set your timer Start with 5 minutes. Ease your way up to minutes. Get Comfy Cross-legged on the floor, on the grass or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. Keep spine straight and let your shoulders drop Eyes Close your eyes, if it feels comfortable or gare downwards. Deep breaths Focus on the part of your body where your breath feels prominent: Nostrils; back of throat or diaphragm. Keep focus. Maintain breaths Focus on breaths as you inhale and exhale. Bring attention to rise and fall of your belly. Stay with it If attention wanders, return to breath. Let go of thoughts, feelings and distractions Repeat 6 & 7 Keep repeating for the duration of the session. The mind will wander, acknowledge this and return to your breath Be kind to yourself If focus drifts off, it is ok. Keep practising. Try rearranging posture, if mind keeps wandering End When timer goes off. Open eyes gently when you are ready to. Be thankful to yourself by acknowledging your practice Be kind to yourself...
