1 LG Hausys hosts Q1 communication session for executives and staff Our company hosted a Q1 communication session for executives and staff on April 12 inside the Grand Hall at the LG Twin Towers building. Outstanding achievers for the first quarter of 2017 were introduced to open the session, followed by some major news items for our company, Q1 management performance results, and a presentation of exemplary case studies as well as creative trial-and-error incidents related to action management. The session also featured an invitational special lecture from the President of Nova Planning, presentations on My Success Story as well as My Happy Story, and finally, the CEO Wrap-Up. For the first order of business, eight teams made presentations to share their outstanding achievements in action management. Among the eight, the Domestic Sales-Special Sales- Coated Glass Sales Team, the Window Frame-Cheongju-Profile Technology Team, the Surface Materials-Design PJT, and Domestic Sales-Planning Team were given the Most Outstanding Award. The creative trial-and-error incidents session involved cases of product development and market entry attempts where our company was unsuccessful in terms of commercialization but nevertheless, gave us an excellent foundation for future growth. These cases included the development of an automobile materials component called Lux leather, development of a frame for automatic ventilation windows, development of an alternative film to replace PVA surface materials, our highly functional glass project in China, and the AL project that developed a dual-layer curtain wall product. In the My Success Story session, Managing Director for Management Strategy and Innovation Park Min-soo and Managing Director for Quality and Safety Environment Kim Jin-ha shared their stories, beginning from their early days in our company until the moment they became executives. The audience appreciated the candid stories on their successes and failures. During My Happy Story, staff members from the Domestic Sales-Special Sales-Curtain wall Sales Team and AL-Development Team drew applause from the audience with fun stories on a number of activities they did when they were still university students. During his CEO Wrap-up session, President Oh Jang-soo applauded all the work his executives and staff had put forth during the first quarter of 2017 and said, Action management will work properly when the four elements of Mindset, Systemization, Self- Motivation, and Leading by example through leadership all work together. President Oh added, Let s make sure action management settles in as part of our organizational culture and make our company into an organization that excels at executing plans. 1/8

2 LG Hausys participates in the Milano Design Week 2017 LG becomes the first Korean company to win the top honor at the Milano Design Awards 2017 From April 4 to 9, our company participated in the Milano Design Week 2017, the largest design exhibition in the world, held in Milan, Italy. Joined by LG Electronics and LG Display, our company promoted LG s philosophy and determination towards innovation with regards to design. In this year s Milano Design Week, LG worked together with world-renowned designer Tokujin Yoshioka, who expresses human senses using unique imaginative ideas, to create a large OLED installation with a theme dubbed as Senses of the Future. LG and Tokujin created a future image where humanity maintains a harmonious balance with advanced technology in a space with warm and beautiful light. The artwork embodied the concept of Innovation for a Better Life, in other words, it reflected LG Group s will to pursue innovation while caring and communicating with people. Inside the LG exhibition hall, which required visitors to pass through a narrow and dark passage near the entrance of the exhibition hall, our company used 17 S.F Chairs assembled using 47 sets of 55-inch OLED signage boards to create a space of bright lights. On the floor, where the artwork was installed, our company s artificial marble product HI-MACS helped the light emitted from OLED boards shine even brighter. With this unique design, LG became the first Korean company to win the Milano Design Award - the highest honor in the exhibition. With regards to LG s Senses of the Future exhibition, the judges said, The exhibit demonstrated a comprehensive mix of conceptual, technical and emotional aspects in a single project. In addition, our company held a Design & Tech Day seminar at the Melia Milano Hotel in Milan on April 5, introducing European designers and architects to the technology and design of HI-MACS. Famous designer Stefano Giovannoni gave a special speech and earned rave reviews from the audience with his introduction on latest interior trends for kitchens/living rooms/bathrooms and commercial spaces as well as information on venues that feature a combination of various materials. 2/8

3 LG Hausys wins Innovation Award at the JEC World 2017 Our company won the Innovation Award at the JEC World 2017, an international exhibition for composite materials held in Paris, France on March 15. The honor was extended to our company s roof rack* product which was co-developed with Hyundai Motor Company. Hosted by the JEC Group, a union of French corporations in the composite materials industry, JEC World is the largest exhibition for composite materials in the world with more than 1,200 companies from related fields participating in the event every year. JEC World also selects winners for its Innovation Award each year for companies with outstanding technology for new materials in automobiles, airplanes, and ships. Our roof rack product featuring Continuous Fiber Thermoplastic (CFT), a lightweight material our company developed independently, is not only approximately 30% lighter than other aluminum products but it also requires one-fifth in terms of the number of parts that go into its production, meaning it is effective in reducing production costs. Our company plans to mass produce roof racks using CFT next year and supply it to automobile makers in Korea. * Roof Rack Two elongated bars installed lengthwise on the roof of cars to help load or fasten luggage. 3/8

4 LG Hausys participates in the 2017 Shanghai DOMOTEX Asia Our company participated in the 2017 Shanghai DOMOTEX Asia, Asia s largest construction materials exhibition held in Shanghai between March 21 and 23, to showcase our company s highly functional flooring and tile products. At this year s event, our company gave visitors a look at products tailor-made to fit different spaces such as medical areas, academic organizations, offices, and living areas. Our company also received a great response from visitors with our functional items such as flooring products for seniors, specialized rubber flooring products (for sports, railways), and PF insulation products. In particular, Medistep Origin, a flooring product for medical venues, uses nonphthalate plasticizers instead of phthalate plasticizers which are known endocrine disrupting chemicals. As such, it has been used in major medical facilities in China including the Baoyu Health Center in Bozhou City, Anhui Province and receiving great reviews. 4/8

5 The key to R&D must start with sharing work, ideas, and life Most Outstanding Team, Action Management Pilot: R&D Center- Window Frame Development PJT (current Window Frame-Window Frame R&D PJT) The R&D Center-Window Frame Development PJT (current Window Frame-Window Frame R&D PJT) is the team that created the Super Save series, an energy efficiency level-1 window product that saves 40% in annual air conditioning and heating costs. To research and develop products capable of leading the market, you need a long list of capabilities including the ability to create fresh ideas, insight into the market, knowledge of technology, and capacity to integrate technology. Let s take a look at how a team responsible for research and development implemented action management activities, and listen to what type of changes they had to embrace. I. Mindset. Strong determination to achieve WIL Change the Future! Before beginning any action management activities, the Window Frame Development PJT created a team slogan and posted it in the office using a slogan plan card. This created an environment for team members organically recognize the concept of action management. The team came up with a slogan that said, WIL Change the Future. The W in WIL stood for Work-Sharing: Let s share what we re doing right now! The I stood for Idea-Sharing: Let s share future ideas! Meanwhile, the L stood for Life- Sharing: Let s share my life! Members of the Window Frame Development PJT began their pursuit of action management based on the belief that the key to research and development must start with sharing work, ideas, and life. This automatic action system featured what is called an Idea Input & Brain Storming phase aimed at increasing the number of ideas in the early stages.

Work related to sales or production has very clear quantitative daily or monthly targets and performance measures. However, it isn t easy to measure performance in the short-term for work related to research and development. Having plenty of good ideas doesn t necessarily mean that you can develop good products. But, at the same time, if you only have few ideas, little goes on to product development. In other words, both the quantity and quality of ideas are important. As such, the Window Frame Development PJT created an R&D Pipe-Line. This automatic action system featured what is called an Idea Input & Brain Storming phase aimed at increasing the number of ideas in the early stages. The goal was set at 144 idea proposals per quarter. After that, the Idea Generation phase kicked it to select 50 good quality ideas. These ideas were then funneled into the Gate Review System and Development & Execution phases to whittle them down to two high-quality ideas that would go onto the final product development phase. This is why the team decided to set the number of ideas to be proposed by each individual. This clearance mark, however, was set voluntarily by each team member at the Window Frame Development PJT rather than the team leader. For work to progress in the most efficient manner, the team determined that everyone had to keep track of their own targets and perform their duties. As such, team members were given the autonomy to set targets and measure their performance. Since everyone set their own goals, it created an environment where people could propose their own ideas according to their own objectives freely without having to worry about other people. In fact, the team was able to surpass its target in the fourth quarter of 2016 and propose more ideas than it set out to achieve. During the latter half of 2016 when pilot activities for the action management system were being implemented, team leaders spearheading the Window Frame Development PJT encouraged each individual as they went through the process of establishing their own targets. They also made it their priority to keep in tune and to think together with their team members. Rather than speaking about what they thought as leaders first, they listened to what their team members thought. They created an atmosphere that encouraged various activities such as taking classes outside the company to stimulate creativity. At the Window Frame Development PJT, ideas are the most important aspect of research and development work. It isn t easy to measure short-term achievements like other departments. Members at the Window Frame Development PJT say that they feel the quantity and quality of ideas have grown since an organization culture of respecting each individual and cooperating with one another took root in the team. We expect another hit product capable of leading the market to come from this autonomous organizational culture that encourages everyone to set and manage their own targets at the Window Frame Development PJT. 8/8
