2 FOREWORD Sometimes changes are not always welcome, however this catalogue represents our transformation from a small localised luminaire manufacturer into a significant part of a global operation. Over the last twelve months, the staff of Eagle Lighting Australia have worked tirelessly on implementing a number of key milestones in our development. From the growth of our Engineering department, to the establishment of our company Mission, Vision and Value statements. From our Design & Marketing team who have created this catalogue and developed our brand image, to the overall efforts of all our employees who ensure the user experience of ELA is as good as it can be. It is an exciting time to be leading Eagle Lighting Australia forward, one of our key building blocks is the continual development of our luminaire range, and this catalogue is a reflection of some of the innovation and evolution of our product. New luminaires within this document include the Uno System, Enviro Diffused and Cleanroom CLB options. We have also showcased noteworthy projects across Australia where our luminaires have been best utilised, and for your convenience have added a technical section and index. 4 OUR STORY In order for an organisation to move forward individually and collectively, one must acknowledge and respect its past. From establishment in 1972 as a small, Melbourne-based manufacturer of fluorescent lighting, Eagle Lighting Australia has evolved into an international company that manufactures, imports/exports and distributes premium quality luminaires throughout Australasia. In nearly forty years of existence, ELA has represented many of the finest luminaire brands. The biggest change in our business was the acquisition in 2007 of ELA by the Fagerhult Group who are the largest lighting company in the Nordic region and third largest in the European market. Significantly this change brought unprecedented access to an international network of suppliers, products and knowledge. These resources have been advantageous to ourselves and our customers in Australia and New Zealand. In 2009, ELA moved its administration, production and distribution into a purpose built facility at Melbourne Airport. Through careful planning, the move into a fully customised facility has opened up key business opportunities for us. We are able to showcase luminaires in a real environment, specifically a working office demonstrating the effect lighting has on staff and their environment. To ensure we create light fittings with maximum efficiency, we have established a world-class manufacturing facility with stateof-the-art machinery. Today, these facilities have grown to be the cornerstone of our business, allowing us to manufactures, import and distribute orders throughout Australasia. We re so proud of what we ve achieved, that in recent times we ve opened the doors and invited industry to experience our facilities. Currently, Eagle Lighting employs over 100 staff in Australia, nearly doubling in size over the last four years. We have key partnerships in the remaining states of Australia, and in the past year expanded our operation into South Australia and to New Zealand under the Fagerhult brand. Our growth has been nothing short of staggering, yet we re not content to rest on our laurels. With the combined abilities of our richly diverse and knowledgeable staff, Eagle Lighting Australia will continue to provide innovative and affordable lighting solutions to the marketplace deep into the 21st century.

In 2010, Eagle Lighting Australia set about establishing the ideals which the company and employees hold most dear. Our Mission, Vision and Value statement and the mantra Our People, Our Product, Our Planet is the embodiment of our vision to be recognised as Australasia s premier lighting solutions provider. Our People We value our people and acknowledge their importance in our continued success. Through maintaining a harmonious workplace, our staff are encouraged to enrich their lives through education, by developing relationships with clients and their fellow co-workers and by finding satisfaction in what they are trying to achieve. Our Product We are committed to offering lighting solutions that go beyond the expectations of our customers. Our goal is to provide specifiers and designers with the very best lighting solutions utilising quality luminaires from our locally manufactured and imported product ranges. Our Planet We place value in protecting the environment and making a positive contribution to our community. Our overriding ambition is to limit the environmental effect during the entire lifecycle of a fitting, from development and manufacturing, to usage and recycling.

6 THE FAGERHULT STORY Bertil Svensson - The founder of Fagerhult with his CREATION The story of Fagerhult begins in a small Swedish town of the same name, in the Christmas of Bertil Svensson, then 23-years-old, was working as an electrician when he came up with an idea for a present. Bertil saw that his mother, who was busy helping others during the day, needed a way to relax during the evening, but with little light due to scarcity of electricity in many houses of the time, Bertil saw a problem that required a solution. Over the following months he brought the pieces together to form his project, a question mark shaped lamp that would shine light directly over his mother s head so she could read and do her needlework. When he saw her reaction as he revealed his present, he made a decision that day to create lamps to respond to people s needs. He would create light. With little money, and little business knowledge, Bertil enlisted the help of two friends, Helmer Anderson and Harold Ulfenborg to start a company Fagerhult. By 1945, the company was officially established, had quadrupled sales by the end of their second year, and had built the first of forty buildings that still stands at the Fagerhult factory today. It wasn t until 1949 that Bertil truly established the direction of this company. He saw the future of Fagerhult not just in creating lamps, but in creating crisp, bright lighting for public spaces. He was drawn by the challenge and complexity and the need for innovation. He saw the need for people to have perfect clarity in their workspace and he did this with the mantra the more we know, the more we can achieve. As Fagerhult turned their focus into providing light solutions for complicated environments like schools, hospitals, apartments and offices, they began the process of arming themselves with knowledge. They gathered information and created in-house studies of light. They set up an experiment department where they explored new materials and techniques, they developed new machinery and created new technology, thus setting the direction of the company. What was once a small village, became a bustling town as the factory grew and employed more staff. Bertil had a full-time building crew, who when they weren t busy at Fagerhult, were constructing housing and facilities for his employees and townspeople. Knowledge is at the heart of Fagerhult. The insight into the spoken and unspoken needs of customers drives product development. With a can do attitude, the ongoing ambition of Fagerhult is to continue solving new challenges while backing its ability to achieve what most deem impossible.

8 FROM CONCEPT TO COMPLETION - THE DESIGN PROCESS One of the most exciting areas of development has been the growth in our Engineering department. This team is the backbone of our commitment to providing the right lighting solutions for our customers and our dedication to ongoing development. The thought behind from concept to completion is about being able to follow an idea through a design process and see it come to fruition. Through our in-house Engineering team, and world-class manufacturing plant, we now have that ability. Using the latest 3D design software Solidworks, ideas are brought to life as a working concept. Parts such as electrical ballasts, componentry, lamps and gear trays are simulated in a digital environment, long before the first piece of steel is punched and formed by one of our NC Turret machines. The advantage of using 3D computer aided design (CAD) is the efficient review of designs prior to manufacture rather than after. Also, by simulating fittings in different installation environments, we can make informed decisions on what works and what doesn t. Of course, once a new fitting is approved we can easily and efficiently create shopfloor drawings, bill-of-materials (BOM), datasheets and production processes. Our design components are translated into NC Fabriwinn software, where they are programmed then sent to the factory for punching and forming. They are then folded and go through one of three Brake Presses as per the supplied shopfloor drawings. After folding, a new fitting will be cleaned and put through our state-of-the-art paint line. It is assembled and wired, electrically tested, packaged and dispatched to the customer. The attention to detail in the formative stages will heavily influence the lighting solutions our Engineering team is able to provide.

9 Driven Design SOLUTION DRIVEN DESIGNS You should consider the products within this catalogue as our stock items. However one of the strengths of Eagle Lighting is the ability to create Solution Driven designs. We pride ourselves on being adaptable, creative and innovative, we believe this to be one of our core strengths. Examples of some solution-driven designs include an existing wallwasher luminaire, adapted to include a removable wipedown diffuser. The hospital required it to be installed into an existing suspended ceiling. We were also approached to create a secure bed-light for a prison which had to be installed in a precast concrete wall. The solution lay in the creation of a special sleeve that remained in place during the concrete pour, and allowed us to secure the fitting at a later date. It is advantageous to be recognised for being flexible, yet there is also the potential for any of our customisations to become a standard fitting in the future which in turn is to the benefit of any future potential customers. MARKET DRIVEN DESIGNS As part of our product development process we are constantly analysing the lighting market to identify gaps. Our aim is to be proactive and to be seen as the leader for others to follow. The perfect example of this is the brand new UNO luminaire. This modular fitting with an aluminium extruded body, is available in both single, and continuous option of any overall length as required. The development of this fitting came about as a resolution to a practical need. Our Engineering team set about designing a new luminaire with similar light output specifications as the existing fitting, but to be much more user-friendly during installation.

10 MADE IN AUSTRALIA Through the relationship between Fagerhult and ELA, there is a commitment to ongoing manufacturing investment at our Melbourne facility. We believe the concept of Made in Australia is a principal upon which ELA can build for it s long-term success. To communicate this, we have been holding factory tours for members of the wider lighting industry to showcase our investment, not just in manufacturing but in engineering and product development also. One of the strategies behind our heavy investment in our factory and operations in Melbourne is to marry our machines and capabilities to those of the other members within the global Fagerhult Group. The goal being to produce a global range locally. The investment in ELA, is also an investment in the Australian economy. Through the Global Financial Crisis we are proud to have experienced a period of growth both in employee numbers and sales. We are now able to take a global product and if needs be, develop solutions specific to the diverse Australian market and its customers. One of our major priority is our on-time delivery performance. We can react to changes in the local market whether it be a technological advance, a market surge towards a particular product, or a reaction to the changing Australian climate, with much greater efficiency At our facility, we now have a seamless and efficient production line from manufacture, to assembly to distribution. The ability to manage the whole process allows for better quality control, better customisation, better production times, all of which provide better customer satisfaction backed by the assurance of local support.

11 POWDER COAT PLANT Our move to the new Manufacturing facility at Melbourne Airport, gave us the opportunity to invest in a world class, environmentally friendly paintline. This closed-circuit, state-of-the-art paintline incorporating ITW GEMA technologies, was selected specifically after consultation between Fagerhult, several suppliers and ourselves. It was important that whatever option we chose, it was in-line with Fagerhult recommendations and also had similar painting capacities that exist at other facilities within the group. Manufacturing Globalisation practices ensure we have the ability to produce a luminaire in Australia, to identical specifications as one produced in a factory in Sweden, China, Germany or England. Some of the important features of this paintline are as follows: + + An environmentally-friendly, closedsystem powdercoating operation that exceeds all relevant Australian standards + + A seamless and fully automated powdercoating process, where raw luminaire components are degreased and treated, dried, coated and baked before being prepared for assembly. + + Incorporated into the water-based, degreasing cycle is an eco-seal application. Through a three-stage procedure, two parts of eco-seal are combined to give all of our luminaires an additional rust-inhibiting seal. + + Eco-sealing is essential as we are rustproofing the entire luminaire including all its raw edges. We see this as value-added benefit to the end-user when you begin to compare the quality of our fittings and pricing with competitors.

12 GLOBAL SUPPORT As a member of the Fagerhult Group, we now have unveted access to global support, resources and knowledge in all aspects of the lighting industry. The single, biggest benefit of being part of this global network is in manufacturing support. From a product-only point of view, global support provides advances in technology, manufacturing and higher quality of parts and materials developed in facilities across the planet, equally we can share our products and ideas within the group. Through the investment here in Australia, we can now produce a fitting to the exact specifications as one produced in Sweden, China, Germany or England. We also benefit from operational support, this includes adopting logistics and sales software, and access to literature and marketing materials. We often access the knowledge acquired by the Fagerhult Lighting Academy a division of the Fagerhult Group established in The Academy s foremost task is to gather, refine and distribute knowledge from and to the Fagerhult Group through e-learning, seminars, conferences and courses. The Fagerhult family is growing either through acquisition or by partnering in key growth areas, and we re excited to be part of the growth, but also to pass on the benefits to our customers. 13 LAB & PRODUCT TESTING Our laboratory Our laboratory, Technical Centre, has had an SMTA-agreement with Intertek ETL Semko since The agreement means that Intertek ETL Semko has inspected and approved our test equipment and quality system as well as the expertise of our personnel. The Technical Centre is also very well equipped with instruments to perform other tests on luminaires. Instruments of the highest quality and accuracy are in place to inspect the product s EMC-properties (after IEC/EN which is a recognised standard in Australia, ACMA is the regulating authority), to verify lighting performance and other quality tests. Other tests include products to EN EN (IEC 60598) similar to products tested to AS/NZS for both Australia and New Zealand, differences are mainly related to voltage, flammability and type of flex and plug used. The Technical Centre also participate in standardisation work within the field of luminaires via our membership of the Swedish Electrical Commission team TK34. This team discusses proposals for amendments to testing standards. Consequently, we have the possibility to influence new standards as well as keeping ourselves well informed about future amendments. In addition to annual audits, Intertek ETL Semko also has the right to visit our laboratory at any time or call in products for comparison tests. Third party certification for your safety Fagerhult has chosen, despite third party certification no longer being required, to continue with this procedure for its basic range. This is to ensure that the customer receives products that conform to all current safety requirements and where the product is inspected by an independent body. Variants of the basic range, for example, products with HF-dim or with emergency light functionality, are not usually certified by a third party. However, the safety levels on these designs are just as high as for other products. Other in house tests to the appropriate International standards include IP ratings, IK ratings and thermal testing. NATA Additional NATA accredited testing is performed on selected products in Australia to ensure compliance and Australian and New Zealand standards and to guarantee stated performance values. Tests include AS/NZS 60598, thermal and photometric performance and IP ratings.

14 CREATIvE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS Whereas once a Lighting Design was as simple as measuring the height of a wall, the width of a room and making some calculations. Today, the lighting designer must consider what the vision of the architect, engineer or client is. Have you ever walked into a room and wondered how would this room look bathed in light? Or gazed at a feature wall, and queried if some simple up-lighting might enhance that space. In conjunction with our Sales Team, the Designers at Eagle Lighting Australia can replicate any space using the latest CAD software (AGi32, Dialux and 3D Studio Max) but also calculate and generate 3D Computer Generated Images (CGI). These reflect how any space might look, complete with a representation of the luminaires, along with all the photometric data specific to the design. The benefit to the builder, specifier or end user is that decisions can be made earlier in the planning of any project, avoiding costly mistakes once construction has started. The smallest adjustment or detail can be altered, a new visualisation can be created, a new calculation can be made, and the end result will therefore be more cost-effective but also more dynamic. The Design team at Eagle Lighting Australia is committed to ensuring the dreams and visions of our clients are met. Their aim is to design with accuracy, consistency and flair, all whilst meeting demanding deadlines and working to Australian Lighting standards (AS1680/ AS1158/AS2560/etc) turning visions into a stunning reality.
