Most hardware controls including safety critical operations is now moving towards software. Such designs require a new set of methodologies and process flows for a correct by construction approach for translating control into efficient and reliable software. This is now an important and emerging area for research and development and India requires adequately trained manpower in this area. Such is the relevance of this specialization. The core strength of the program lies in its course structure and the research areas which it focuses. It includes core-courses like Embedded control systems and Embedded software design & Validation; & laboratories like Real time embedded system and Embedded application laboratory. The research areas includes Control systems, Fault diagnosis, Fault tolerant control, VLSI design, Embedded system development and Real time& Signal processing. Other than departments, several state-of-the-art research units of the Institute carry out research under the academic umbrella of ATDC. These include the Advanced VLSI Design Laboratory, MEMS Design Laboratory, Micro-Electronics Laboratory, Advanced Laboratory for Plant Genetic Engineering, Communication Empowerment Laboratory, Kalpana Chawla Space Technology Cell, Centre for Theoretical Studies, Microfluidics and Microscale Transport Processes Laboratory, GM CRL on ECS, P K Sinha Centre for Bio-Energy, Centre for Railway Research, etc. A large number of interdisciplinary research projects are carried out under ATDC. It is incorporating important applications, development of CAD tools and includes Laboratory and Industry experience. Research-orientation has been aimed at developing new methods of intelligent control and software technology. EMBEDDED CONTROLS & SOFTWARE We have highly advanced laboratories equipped with all latest industry standard hardware's and software's. These are Software Design & Validation Laboratory, Embedded Controls Laboratory and Embedded Application Laboratory. Companies can express their interest in visiting the campus for recruitment by sending in the filled Company Information Form (CIF). The Companies are invited to conduct the Pre-Placement talks. This gives the students, a clear picture of the profile being offered and helps them in making an informed choice about the company. A Pre-Placement talk must include the following: Company Background Profile being offered Career path in the organization Compensation offered In case the company is not able to visit the campus for the pre-placement talk, it can mail its presentation together with detailed profile description to the placement cell. The placement cell will ensure that the information reaches to the concerned student. The companies are given slots by placement cell on the basis of the profile and the package being offered. Resumes of the interested students are sent to the company. The company sends the short listed students list to the Institute.
