1 Technical Meeting on Phase II of the Data Analysis and Collection for Costing of Research Reactor Decommissioning (DACCORD) Project IAEA Headquarters Vienna, Austria Room M6, M Building 1 5 October 2018 Ref. No.: EVT Information Sheet A. Background The second phase of the Data Analysis and Collection for Costing of Research Reactor Decommissioning (DACCORD) project was launched at a Technical Meeting that took place in Vienna, Austria, from 29 August to 2 September This meeting finalized the terms of reference for Phase II of the DACCORD project, based on an overall duration of 36 months (i.e. through to the latter half of 2019). The work plan is organized in three working groups (WGs): WG 1: Cost cases and the CERREX (Cost Estimation for Research Reactors in Excel) decommissioning costing software; WG 2: Decommissioning and characterization plan information; and WG 3: Sensitivity and probabilistic analysis.
2 Page 2 The present meeting coincides approximately with the second anniversary of the launch meeting. In accordance with the project terms of reference, the second phase of the DACCORD project aims to improve general capabilities for preparing cost estimates, and for determining the implications of different characterization strategies on cost and on the designation of waste classes to assist with the development of optimal approaches. DACCORD Phase II also seeks to improve understanding of the level and source of uncertainty of the cost estimates. A further objective is to continue and deepen the general collaboration on research reactor costing that was developed during Phase I. B. Purpose and Scope of the Meeting The main purpose of the meeting is to review the progress achieved so far under the second phase of the DACCORD project. The meeting will involve presentations and exchanges on current achievements and planned future work of each of the working groups, and on the use of the CERREX code, which is used as the main tool for data collection and cost analysis during the project. In addition, the meeting will advance the drafting of the final report of the project, and determine the work programmes for the remainder of the project. C. Materials to be Made Available Participants will receive an outline draft of the project report. D. Dates and Venue The meeting will take place at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, in Room M6 of the M Building at the (VIC), 1 5 October 2018.
