1 Pattern Development & Garment Construction DVF3014 Session : Dec 2015 Course Coordinator: Masithah Binti Jasman Rasyidah Binti Sulong
2 COURSE INFORMATION COURSE: DVF 3014 PATTERN DEVELOPMENT AND GARMENT CONSTRUCTION DURATION: 15 WEEKS CREDIT (S): 3 PREREQUISITE (S): DVF 2014 PATTERN DRAFTING AND GARMENT CONSTRUCTION PATTERN DEVELOPMENT AND GARMENT CONSTRUCTION is an introduction to industrial manufacturing standard and garment construction. Four basic garments consist of skirt, shirt, dress will be developed based on design given. Standard size basic bodice block will be manipulated to create the designs. Garments will then be constructed and finished by applying industrial assembly techniques. A complete report for the whole development of the garment production process will be produced. Students will manually grade basic bodice, sleeve and skirt block for various sizes PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of this course students should be able to:- 1 Acquire and apply knowledge of fashion design and clothing field 2. Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in fashion and garment construction. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of this course students should be able to:- Use manufacturing standards such as seam and stitch classification correctly in producing garment specification documentation. (C3, PLO1) Construct accurate graded production patterns manually suitable for use in the garment industry. (P4, PLO2) Produce a skirt, dress and shirt by applying the right pattern manipulation and construction process. (P6, PLO2) Teaching and Learning methods Most of the class will be conducted by lectures and demonstration. Students are required to work and conduct their own research in order to complete their assignment. Make sure to bring all tools and materials related to your work to class. I believe students are as much responsible for their own education. It is necessary that you are prepared before coming to class. Because time in the lab is limited, make sure to use the sewing facilities to the fullest during class. Do not do other written, drawing or drafting work in the lab because all those assignment can be done at home. Please come to class on time, willingness to work hard, to way communication, and an enthusiasm for participation.
