About us We are a community interest heritage and arts consultancy. Our vision is a thriving cultural sector in which every organisation has support to build and achieve good business, workforce and community engagement models. We contribute to this by enabling culture and building employability. Enabling culture We support cultural organisations to achieve best practice relating to collections, audiences and workforce. Building employability We create paid developmental opportunities for emerging professionals and champion sustainable workforce development in the cultural sector. 1

British Homeopathic Association
Digitising Collections Culture Syndicates carried out a project for the British Homeopathic Association to photograph the entirety of their collection. The objects were professionally cleaned and handled. Our team used specialist equipment to ensure that the photographs were of the best quality, and used contemporary software to enhance the photographs post-production. This ensured that the collection could be uploaded to the British Homeopathic Association s website, making the collection more accessible to the public. The project also gave an opportunity to train emerging cultural professionals in collection photography and digitisation. 5
4 Corby Borough Council
Collections Management Culture Syndicates advised Corby Borough Council on their collection management. We recognised that a number of unknown items of various materials from three locations should be collated into one comprehensive store so that the museum would be in a better position to qualify for accreditation. Our team identified priority items and devised an appropriate project plan. These diverse collections included human remains, unframed prints, film and unaccessioned items. The total collection (approximately 2,000 items) were cleaned, condition checked and placed in appropriate archival storage by our team. Our team trained staff and volunteers in handling, store procedures, and Modes cataloguing to SPECTRUM standards. This project has enabled Corby Borough Council to apply for accreditation and use their collection for outreach work. Highly commended in Collections Trust Awards

8 Life Lines
Community Engagement Life Lines is a community led volunteer group project facilitated by Culture Syndicates in partnership with the University of Nottinham s Manuscripts and Special Collections, and the Weston Gallery. Together, Culture Syndicates advised the volunteer group on how to digitise their World War One collections, correctly store them and research further. They created exhibitions to further engage members of the public, and published their research. This led to a successful HLF bid, written by Culture Syndicates, to create a loans box that could be taken into local schools to enhance learning. The loans box was co- created in partnership with an artist and included artefacts inspired by the volunteers ancestors, who were involved in the war. This pioneered a new method of working with communities, and engaged several schools in the area with their local history. 11
Marketing Understanding audiences Site and service development Creating meaningful audience relations 10
Our experience in marketing research allows projects to be tailored to best suit you and and your research needs. Grant application Project management Visitor tracking User and non-user surveying Heat mapping Focus groups Touchpoint mapping Market research Data analysis, including financial Site development and visitor routes Reporting and evaluation Brand development Promotion and PR Event management 13
12 Framework Knitters Museum
Audience Development Culture Syndicates audience research informed Framework Knitters Museum s successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid for 100,000. This represented a step change for the organisation, allowing it to begin positioning itself as an innovative leader in audience engagement and a museum of national, even international, importance. The project created two galleries, using innovative co-production methods. Culture Syndicates work allowed the museum to reach new audiences. We promoted the new galleries to 500 groups and forged a new relationship with the Nottinghamshire Disabled People s Movement. Culture Syndicates undertook a full evaluation of activities, writing the final Heritage Lottery Fund report. 15
Training Developing the heritage workforce Improving skills and employability Creating paid work opportunities 14
We ensure high quality, on-the-job training opportunities under the close supervision of experts. We support your organisation to work towards more sustainable volunteer programmes and workforce development. Our training is tailored to your organisation and can include: Collections management and care Historical research Audience evaluation Customer services Strategic digital marketing Mentoring 17
Resilience Syndicate 16
Internship programme The Resilience Syndicate is a 149,189 Arts Council England funded employability project, created by Culture Syndicates that has made six internships across the East Midlands. With Culture Syndicates specialists and the museum partners, the interns identified and developed shared opportunities for engaging audiences and improving interpretation within their host museums. The host museums were: Rutland County Museum, Mansfield Museum, Bassetlaw Museum, The British Horological Institute, Kettering Manor House and Art Gallery and Asycoughfee Hall and Gardens. This project provided a wide variety of training opportunities for the interns, and included weekly professional development sessions with the Culture Syndicates team. The interns were empowered by mini projects to develop their own ideas, and develop engagement activities alongside the host museum s needs. 19
