Coin Mechanism Troubleshooting Guide There are a number of reasons why your coin mechanism could be having issues. By following this checklist, you can instantly diagnose the most common problems: 1. Check the Coin Mechanism for Error-Codes: The bill reader and coin mechanism are related and have an effect on each other. Turn the machine off, and then turn back on again. When turning the machine back on look at the coin mechanism s display. If the coin mechanism has any error it will show a four digit number, for example a. If an error code is present, perform a Master Reset on the Coin Mechanism: 1. Empty all coins, including Primed coins, by pressing 2, then 3, then hold 2 until all coins are dispensed. 2. Shut down the machine. 3. Hold bottom number 4 (do not release number 4 until step 5 is performed) a dot would show on your left side of the coin mechanism screen. 4. While holding the number 4 you also going to hold bottom number Another dot is going to show on the right side of the coin mechanism screen. 6. Once you have two steady dots on the display release bottoms 4 & 2 at the same time. 7. You should see a letter C or a letter U running across the screen from left to right. Either letter means the reset was successful. 8. Re-prime your coin mech: a. To start priming the coin mechanism you first need to press number 1 b. After pressing number one, the display will show --25 c. Insert three coins of 5 cents and wait for the slide to move. d. Insert three coins of 10 cents and wait for the slide to move e. Insert three coins of 25 cents and wait for the slide to move HUMAN Healthy Vending 3
f. Insert three coins of 25 cents and wait for the slide to move. g. Insert three coins of 1.00 dollar and wait for the slide to move. h. Insert all the coins in any sequence until you fill out all the tubes. i. Press number 4 to exit. If you forget this step, the mechanism will automatically exit the 25 mode after several seconds. 2. If the coin mechanism is experiencing a coin jam remove the all the coins including the jammed coins. Check Out the Removing Jams and Cleaning Video a. After taking all of the coins out of the unit and clearing all the coins jammed, perform a Master Reset (see Step 1a) 3. If the coin mechanism still refuses to accept coins, remove the T15 (Coin Selector that sits on top of the coin mechanism and is held in place by the red plastic tab and cable) Clean the T15 with a 100% cotton rag, then attempt to prime the coin mechanism again. 4. It is possible to disable coins by accident. To fix this enter programming of the machine via the keypad on the door. Scroll through the menu options until you find Coin Inhibition, and enable all coins. Then attempt to prime again. If your coin mechanism still does not accept coins, please contact technical support to report your Bill Reader issue by Submitting a Request at support.healthyvending.com HUMAN Healthy Vending 4
Bill Reader Troubleshooting Checklist Follow this checklist if you are experiencing any problems with your machine s Bill Reader. 5. If an error code is present, perform a Master Reset on the Coin Mechanism: 9. Empty all coins, including Primed coins, by pressing 2, then 3, then hold 2 until all coins are dispensed. 10. Shut down the machine. 11. Hold bottom number 4 (do not release number 4 until step 5 is performed) a dot would show on your left side of the coin mechanism screen. 12. While holding the number 4 you also going to hold bottom number Another dot is going to show on the right side of the coin mechanism screen. 14. Once you have two steady dots on the display release bottoms 4 & 2 at the same time. 15. You should see a letter C or a letter U running across the screen from left to right. Either letter means the reset was successful. 16. Re-prime your coin mech. 6. If no error codes appear, then access your machine s programming menu above the key-pad on the door by pressing the Programming switch and selecting Bill Validator Press A to enter this program. 7. In this Bill Validator menu, test $1, $5, and $10 bills. 8. After the Bill Validator accepts each of the denominations of bill, Press C 9. Select the Bill Inhibitions menu by pressing 1. Verify that $1, $5, and $10 bills are all enabled under this menu HUMAN Healthy Vending 5
10. Press B to exit Programming Mode and close the door. Check for a green light on the Bill Validator after the machine goes through an internal test. 11. If your Bill Reader is still not functioning correctly, then please take note of how the lights on the front of the reader are blinking by referencing the chart below: Number of Blinks Bill Reader Status Continuously Flashing No communication between bill validator and control board 1 Bills are inhibited per the Bill Inhibition programming function 2 Jammed bill 3 Problem with a sensor 4 Bill Stacker (cash box) is installed incorrectly or is not lining up properly 5 Main Motor Failure 6 No patterns are recorded 7 Sensors Setup Error, Use Calibration Sheets to Calibrate the Bill Reader. Please contact technical support to report your Bill Reader issue by Submitting a Request at support.healthyvending.com HUMAN Healthy Vending 6
InOne Technologies Troubleshooting Guide For Credit Card Modem, Swipe, and Remote Monitoring Issues Connectivity Problems: If your machine is not accepting credit cards ( Cash Only ), one reason could be that the cellular connectivity is too weak. This would be indicated on the second line of the cashless display by an error code that begins with M0. In order to check, follow these steps to perform a Signal Strength test: 1. Verify that the credit card swipe screen reads InOne Cashless / Swipe Card a. If it does not, press the Reset button on the modem. 2. Hold both buttons on the top of the modem until you hear a melody, then release both 3. Press the Red Buttom at the (> Modem) prompt 4. Press Red Button again at the (>RSSI) prompt 5. Display should show the RSSI (signal strength) now. The range is 0 to 31, and acceptable signal strength is considered a 12 or higher. 6. Return to Sell Mode, by pressing: a. Red, then Yellow until reader display shows: >Goup b. Red, then Yellow until reader display shows: >Exit Menu c. Red OR Reset Button *If your signal strength test yielded less than 12, then the options to resolve the issue are: 1. Move the machine to another placement inside the same building with less interference. 2. Order and Install a Booster from InOne. See this video on how to install a booster. Note: the ideal method of install is with the A/C adapter, not the USB cable shown in this video. 3. Install an Ethernet-dongle and run an Ethernet line through the back of the machine to the modem in order to tap into the location s hardline internet connection. Note: Contact Tech Support before attempting HUMAN Healthy Vending 7
Cash Only Display: If you see a Cash Only display on your reader then please follow this checklist: 1. Confirm that the machine is in Single or Single Mixed 2 mode under Sales Options in the programming menu via the machine s main keypaid, NOT Free Sale. 2. If the machine is not in Free Sale, then take note of the error code on the 2 nd line of the InOne display: a. Error codes beginning with V0 indicate an issue communicating with the mainboard of the machine. Power off the machine and power back on. b. Error codes beginning with M0 indicate cellular connectivity issues. See the first part of this guide for the Signal Strength test. c. If you see a count-down of numbers, this also points to cellular connectivity issues. Failed DEX Reads: What is DEX? See this article to learn more about what DEX means. If your InOne display is showing Handshake 0 / Handshake 1 after you press either the Red or Yellow button once, then this indicates a failure to read DEX. To follow the checklist below the machine needs to think that the door is closed. Tip: Tape down the white switch on the cabinet that signals the machine that the door is closed: 1. Confirm that the DEX Plug is securely inserted in DEX Socket. 2. Reseat the cable harness by: a. Powering down machine b. Disconnect large gray connector from Arrow box c. Ensure that there are no bent pins d. Reconnect firmly, tighten thumbscrews e. Power back up and retry by pressing the Red button once. If you are still unable to get a DEX read, then please contact InOne Technologies technical support at: (410) HUMAN Healthy Vending 8
Elevator Troubleshooting Checklist If the elevator on your Media Mogul or Apprentice is behaving erratically and vending improperly, please use this checklist as an initial guide to resolve the problem: 1. Check elevator basket for debris or moisture. a. If there is an object disrupting the elevator s conveyor belt it needs to be removed. b. If water has spilled in the elevator, power down the machine immediately and dry with a 100% cotton cloth. Allow remaining moisture to air-dry before powering machine back on. c. If any other liquid substance has spilled in the elevator, power off the machine immediately. Clean with water and a 100% cotton cloth, allow remaining moisture to air-dry before powering machine back on. 2. The small black, plastic clips that are installed on snack extractors can break off and get caught in the elevator. Check that a snack clip or bunny ear is not blocking a sensor. The sensors are located in the notches running along the top edges of each side of the elevator plastic. 3. For a guide on how to remove the elevator basket, Watch This Video 4. Re-Install the basket and test the elevator by powering the machine on, along it to perform the standard elevator test, and testing a selection in Free Vend mode. 5. If problem persists, check and clear all faults in Programming Mode. Check Out the Fault Clearing Video 6. Check Ribbon Cable for corrosion or pins that are not aligned. For a guide on how to access the ribbon cable and check it for corrosion or bent-pins, see the Ribbon Cable Replacement Video Note: It is recommended that you consult with Technical Support before performing this step! Please contact technical support to report your Elevator issue by Submitting a Request at support.healthyvending.com HUMAN Healthy Vending 9
Refrigeration Unit Troubleshooting *Refrigeration issues are the most difficult type of issue for any untrained technician to diagnose and repair. Please consult with Technical Support before performing any diagnosis on your refrigeration system.** First, it's good to be educated on how a refrigeration system works. There are 4 major processes within any refrigeration system: Compression: The first step in the refrigeration cycle is compression, where the system forces vapors into a small space and causes them to heat up. Absorption: After the compression finishes, coils absorb heat from the vapors, reducing their temperature. Condensation: Once the vapor temperature decreases, a throttling device further removes heat and applies pressure until the vapor becomes liquid. Evaporation: Finally, the fluid evaporates and once again becomes gas. The cold temperature is directed to the refrigerated area, while the remaining gas is cycled back into the system, starting the process once again. Secondly, here are the causes of refrigeration issues on HUMAN Machines: 99.9% of refrigeration problems are due to one thing: damage to the copper tubing between the compressor and evaporator. This can occur from the following: i) Rough handling during shipment/moving. ii) Moving the machine with a forklift (forks can puncture the line from underneath the machine if at the wrong angle) iii) Rocking the machine back and forth violently (occurs occasionally from kids who are trying to shake loose a snack product that is stuck). Lastly, to have a refrigeration unit repaired - the process typically involves: i) Removing the refrigeration system by a trained refrigeration technician. ii) (At the technician's shop): Pumping the system full of a liquid dye to pinpoint where the leak may be (which could be the size of the top of a pencil or smaller). iii) Patching the leak 2012 HUMAN Healthy Vending 10
iv) Refilling the system with compressed refrigerant v) Re-installing the refrigeration system. Important: If your service warranty has expired and you would like to attempt to for-ego labor cost by removing the unit yourself to deliver to a refrigeration repair shop, then please be extremely careful. It is easy to drop this unit, causing further damage. Check out the videos below for step-by-step guides on how to remove and install a refrigeration unit: Refrigeration Unit Removal Refrigeration Unit Installation Please contact technical support to report your refrigeration issue by Submitting a Request at support.healthyvending.com HUMAN Healthy Vending 11
Trays & Extractors: Troubleshooting The most common indicator of a problem with an extractor or tray not responding the way it should is the message Selection Not Available on the display screen. Here are the most common reasons why a tray will not recognize a connected motor:! A motor hasn t been programmed in Machine Composition, indicated by Selection Not Available! A motor is unplugged! Pins on the male motor connector are out of position! Broken or cut wires on the motor connector! Broken or cut wires on the tray connector! Pins on the male tray connector are bad or out of position! Related elevator issues (Refer to elevator troubleshooting) Note: Every time you plug and unplug a motor from the tray a reset is necessary for the machine to recognize the changes you made. 1. Enter programming mode and look for the option MACHINE COMPOSITION 2. Press the letter A to enter the option 3. Press letter C, a password option will show on the display, enter the numbers 1212 to reset the motors, this option will not erase any configuration made prior the reset. Common Mistakes Explained: -A common mistake is moving the motors around when reconfiguring the machine but forgetting to reprogram the channels HUMAN Healthy Vending 12
-A similar situation is finding a motor has been unplugged; you would have to reprogram the motor. To program Machine Composition, follow the steps below: 1. Machine Composition Selection 2.
