2 Welcome to Walney Walney Offshore Wind Farm has been fully operational since 2012 and consists of two stages: Walney 1 and Walney 2. Each of the stages comprises of 51 turbines and the total capacityof the wind farm is 367 MW. Ørsted is a renewable energy company that takes tangible action to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We have invested significantly in the UK, where we develop, construct and operate offshore wind farms and innovative waste-to-energy technology. We also provide smart energy products to our commercial and industrial customers. We are undertaking a truly green transformation by divesting our oil and gas business and phasing out coal from our power stations worldwide. 3 Where is Walney? Walney Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 15 km from the coastline of Walney Island. 4 What makes this project special? The project was the first to deploy the Siemens Gamesa 3.6 MW 120m turbine in the UK. How big is it? The area covered is 73 km 2. This is equal to 10,400 Holker Street pitches, home to Barrow A.F.C. 158m 31m 120m Mean Sea Level Blackpool Tower P&O Ferry European Pioneer 3.6 MW wind turbine

5 How much electricity does it produce? Walney 1 and 2 have a total capacity of 367 MW. This means it will provide enough power for over 320,000 homes. 1 How do we maintain the turbines? From the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Base in the purpose built premises at Barrow s Ramsden Docks, the turbine operation can be monitored 24 hours a day. A local workforce of approximately 80 people will ensure that Walney Offshore Wind Farm is in operation for the remainder of its lifetime. The O&M Base consists of an office for administration, welfare and catering for personnel and a warehouse for storage of maintenance equipment for the offshore wind farm. Two purpose built service vessels and a new service pontoon are in place to enable the transport of service technicians to and from the offshore wind farm. What has been the impact on the local economy? Around 1m per month contributed to the local economy during construction. 2 5,697 people were registered as having worked on Walney 1 and 2 during its construction. There are currently 95 Ørsted employees overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Walney Offshore Wind Farm. 1 We have based this on a load factor of 42% and a household consumption of 4.1 MWh per year. 7 Ownership The project is owned 50% by Ørsted, 25% by SSE and 25% by PGGM. Walney Offshore Wind Farm was a ground breaking project for Ørsted as it was the first to be built using specialist installation vessels and a rapid build programme. It has since become the blueprint for subsequent offshore wind farms. Walney is a solid performer in the Ørsted fleet and will be a reliable and clean source of electricity for future generations.
