2 . COURSE AMS To prepare students to recognize the most common infectious and tropical diseases, to teach them how to apply diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms. Early detection and prevention will also be emphasized. To cover principles of antimicrobial therapy and infectious disease control, as well as occurrence of emerging infectious diseases and the threat of use of infectious agents as biological weapons The emphasis will be put on independent and individual practice with patients in hospital units. Students will be also introduced to the principles of working in contemporary clinical laboratories.. Adriana Vince At the end of the course students should be able to: Recognize most common infectious diseases and syndromes Analyze clinical and laboratory findings/results Critically evaluate clinical problem and plan further diagnostic and therapeutic procedure Use available literature on infectious diseases V. EXAMNATONS Block Exams There are two Block Exams: Block General infectology Block Microbiology and Parasitology The Final Exam n order to approach the final exam, students have to pass two block exams and have certificate that they have completed this course.
