2 Scripps Health: At the Forefront of Clinical Research Scripps Health is a recognized leader in clinical research and has long been at the forefront of numerous medical breakthroughs. In 2007, we expanded our commitment to both clinical and translational research throughout the Scripps health care system, and have taken research to new levels of excellence through collaborations with pharmaceutical development companies and alliances with The Scripps Research Institute. As a result, we continue to integrate novel therapeutic, diagnostic, biotechnical and medical technologies into our portfolio of studies while assisting our pharmaceutical sponsors in bringing the most thoroughly researched and highest-quality medical products to market. Together, we are able to offer our patients and community expanded treatment options by way of innovative, scientifically strong research opportunities.

3 Scripps Clinical Research Center In 2008, Scripps established the new Scripps Clinical Research Center, a dedicated 34,500-square-foot research facility at Torrey Pines Science Park in the heart of San Diego s biotech and research community. Designed to facilitate research studies and speed the delivery of new technologies to patients, the center brings together many of the facilities and services required to initiate and conduct clinical investigations. Scripps Clinical Research Center features exam rooms, a lab, offices, meeting rooms with video conferencing and a comfortable waiting area for extended subject visits. In addition, the center offers facilities for sponsor representatives to conveniently monitor ongoing trials, including a full-scale copy center, Internet access, telephone, fax and other key services.

4 Streamlined Services and Support One seamless regulatory and administrative process enables pharmaceutical companies and other partners to conduct research at Scripps sites throughout San Diego County under a single contract. From this central location, Scripps provides investigators and research staff with the support, training and tools required to successfully and efficiently conduct research from start to finish: Timely contract and budget review Identification of staffing needs Streamlined IRB and regulatory document preparation Individualized marketing plan Proactive subject recruitment strategy Personalized subject education and counseling Aggressive enrollment tracking Nationally recognized continuing medical education
