7 Light itself Thoughts on the basics Since time immemorial, light has been an essential and vitally important part of our existence. As a must for seeing, as an element influencing our biorhythms and as a source of our well-being. A tremendous force, the technical impression of which has been the ultimate goal of intensive scientific research and development for many years. A goal that we have already achieved to a large extent. Ultra-modern photometrics not only ensure a well-lit and comfortable life, but also permit extensive design projects with and by light. Light serves as an interior design element that creates atmosphere while permitting us to really see and experience colours and shapes. Purposefully implementing different light effects and temperatures has advanced from a supplementary function in the past to elements conceptually linked nowadays within the design process of contemporary architecture. Like the light source, the light itself continues to evolve from the functional to an architecturally important design object. This advancement of light and source is combined in the new luminaire series TRILUX Polaron a lighting system that supplements elements of design-oriented architecture. With its characteristic secondary light component, TRILUX Polaron efficiently leverages the advantages of direct-indirect lighting.

9 Philosophy In dialogue with room and form The room, the forms, the colours the light. Architecture signifies a dialogue of all these elements. A dialogue, in which the individual components complement and accentuate one another, which whilst being inconsistent in parts, finally establishes a uniform or intentionally disparate consensus. In this consensus to perceive light as such and subtly emphasise, without disturbing the agreement with formal dominance, came the demanding challenge which led to the idea for TRILUX Polaron. To free the immaterial weightlessness of the light from the heaviness of the form, TRILUX and sieger design developed an innovative family of luminaires that blend into the architectural dialogue of the room with graceful restraint. Inspired by the breathtaking combination of room and light in the Roman Pantheon, Polaron s circular luminaire body shapes the light emitted, illuminating the room without direction. The high demand of the product to serve in every aspect as an integral element of interior design, continues consistently in the diversity of the forms which are Polaron luminaires. As recessed, semi-recessed or surface-mounted variations, TRILUX Polaron inspires to achieve any room/light combination. With formal variability, purposefully employed light effect and a self-confident demure independence, the translucent luminaire body distributes the light throughout the room without glare. Even when switched off, the TRILUX Polaron blends in stylishly like a soft mist in the dialogue between room and form.

11 Development The reduction and the essential Developing a luminaire like TRILUX Polaron is synonymous with creating a design object. Understood as such, design does not only refer to refining the form but also an overall concept carefully attuned to minute details which include first-class functional quality. Taking into account this integrated approach, TRILUX and sieger design began, in close co-operation, the fundamental analysis and concept development for creating an innovation in the design luminaire segment. One of the most important contemporary trends in this context is the increase of effect by simplifying the means. For design this means: The form is reduced to a minimum while drawing attention to the essentials and achieving maximum effect. Taking this design concept as a basis, sieger design created a luminaire, whose striking feature is reduction. After all, the most essential part is the light, in its effect, its function and with its almost inexhaustible options for possible arrangements. TRILUX and sieger design selected the circular form, which is predestined to emphasise the reduction and at the same time the essential. To satisfy both contemporary aesthetic demands and the highest technical standards, sieger design developed a T5 circular lamp for the TRILUX Polaron. The result is a lighting system that embodies the internationally renowned design expertise of sieger design. Once it is switched off, the objective-soft appearance of the luminaire transforms into a subtle and pure design element - without losing its obvious charm. Light control: Both the small and larger versions of the luminaire can be dimmed optimally. With T5 ring-shaped lamps of different colour temperature, the twin-lamp TRILUX Polaron creates an individual daylight-like ambience. Flexibility: The 3 different mounting methods ensure great scope for every conceivable design. 19 TRILUX Polaron Semi-recessed version A deliberate design accent The semi-recessed luminaire allows for an unusual type of light installation, which seemingly adds a fourth dimension to the room/ light dialogue. While the body of the semi-recessed luminaire remains concealed, the light and optical system seem to disappear into the fixing surface. An ideal variation for architects and lighting designers, who purposefully use light as an accentuating design element for entrance areas, lounges and traffic areas, or for lighting that enhances modern living areas.

21 TRILUX Polaron Recessed version A sophisticated detail The third variation of TRILUX Polaron can be integrated in an optional mounting enclosure so that it is flush with the ceiling. The enclosure also serves as a reflector, thus becoming a photometrically effective part of the luminaire, a distinguishing detail, which additionally increases the appeal of the Polaron lighting installation.
