2 BASIC MANUAL THANK YOU FOR BUYING the ABUSER. Please feel free to contact us at HOW TO INSTALL To install, unzip and drag the instrument-folder to any hard drive. Launch Kontakt and load the.nki instruments. Please do not move any file! D E S C R I P T I O N Abuser is an extremely powerful hybrid analog virtual instrument for NI Kontakt. Under the hood of this beast lies pristine audio samples, direct from the Sherman filterbank, a filter effect box with unique tube sound overdrive. A pure analog machine wich is not based on processor calculation speed. It s a 24dB/octave 4-pole dual filter module, a genuine analog circuitry with serious overdrive for the grungiest of sounds! All of the source material comes from recordings of various devices feeding into the Sherman filterbank. From the front end you are presented with simple GUI allowing you to modify the patches and internal presets visually using the most common features that most synthesisers have.

3 An easy to use user interface on one screen without a complex menu diving. So you can direct handling and quick sound making. This stunning instrument is packed full of analogue modelled effects, powerful LFO s and envelopes. It is able to create a huge range of sounds, from filthy basses with extremely low frequencies and leads to futuristic electronica, distorted leads, saturated melodic Poly-Synths and everything in between. FEATURES samples from real analog gear abused throught the Sherman filterbank recorded at 96Khz. 3.6 total Gb of sounds. Simple and easy to use GUI with powerful FX and tweaking options. 35 Kontakt fully programmed unlocked.nki files. ADSR, Filter, Modulation, switchable Mono - Legato - Poly with portamento. 4 FX modules with switchable chorus, delay, analogue modelled saturation and reverb. In most patches each of the notes played are individually sampled and layered

4 Large looping range on each note, plus Key Off ( sound on key release ) for more realism. This effect unit leaves a characteristic harmonic on certain sounds on key release. user interface [ADSR] The Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release section of the interface. The contour of an ADSR envelope is specified using four parameters:

5 Attack time is the time taken for initial run-up of level from nil to peak, beginning when the key is first pressed. Decay time is the time taken for the subsequent run down from the attack level to the designated sustain level. Sustain level is the level during the main sequence of the sound s duration, until the key is released. Release time is the time taken for the level to decay from the sustain level to zero after the key is released. [MOD] This is a Low Frequency Oscillator with a very wide value and pitch range, this provides also a powerful wow effect. SPEED is modulation s frequency. Adjusts the frequency of this LFO s output signal in Hz (cycles per second). Values range from 0.01 Hz to 200 Hz. PITCH adjusts the depth of key range s change. It s basically assigned MIDI CC #1. Of course, you can change that because Kontakt features a MIDI Learn function for all sliders and knobs. FILTER adjusts the depth of cutoff.

6 - The mod wheel is integrated into all of the patches. [FILTER] CUT (Cutoff) adjusts the frequency above which signals will be attenuated. RES (Resonance) will boost a small frequency range around the cutoff frequency.

7 [MODE] In POLY mode ( P ) ABUSER will behave as a polyphonic synth. In MONO mode ( M ) ABUSER will behave as a monophonic synth LEGATO mode ( L ) is a monophonic mode. Playing legato when legato mode allows transitions from one note to another with no intervening silence. To make the pitch slide from one note to the next, use the Portamento knob to increase the amount of time it takes to slide. [EFFECTS] Drive : An analogue modelled saturation effect. Chorus : A wide Chorus effect.

8 Reverb : Adding a feeling of spaciousness to the sound. Reverb Time : Adjusts the size of the simulated space. This also affects the duration of the reverb trail. Reverb Tone : This control adjusts the size of the simulated space and therefore, the color of the reverb tail. Delay : This offers a delay line and provides an adjustable feedback level, and a pan control for ping-pong echo effects. Delay Time : The delay time in milliseconds. Delay Pan : Setting a value higher than 0 creates a panning effect, which alternates echos between the left and the right side of the stereo panorama this is affectionally called a pingpong delay. Higher values will result in wider panning. at 100, signals alternate between the far left and far right channel. Delay Feedback : Controls the amount of the output signal that s being fed back into the input of the delay line and creates a series of echos that gradually fade into silence.

9 AUTOMATION (IN DAW) Creating automation within Kontakt is very useful when creating unique sounds. As in all KONTAKT Instruments all you have to do is click on the Auto section in KONTAKT s interface as shown in the picture below. Then, you must click on the numbers (not assigned) on the left and drag them to the dial you want to control (on your instrument s interface) And that s about it. Now, when you go to your DAW s automation panel you ll be able to see the selected parameters ready to be automated.
