4 Our heritage. THE HISTORY OF AN ICON. In 1953 Donald Gomme didn t just launch a new brand, he started a furniture revolution. A lot has changed since then. But some things haven t. We still create stylish, quality sofas that deliver the ultimate in comfort. The G Plan brand was founded by Ebenezer s grandson Donald Gomme, who continued the family tradition We took the radical step of selling sofas without matching chairs. 5 We launched the 6250, which became known as The World s Most Comfortable Chair. One of many iconic pieces in the 60s. Trends were changing again, and as always we moved with them by continuing to make stylish and comfortable furniture. Our iconic Vintage range is launched. Celebrated 60 years of the G Plan brand After the Gomme family retired in 1987, the new board of directors continued to grow the business based on the core values of comfort, style and quality. A new millennium saw a new custom-built factory in Wiltshire and we attained the international 9001 quality standard certification. PREMIUM FOAM SEAT CUSHIONS. Specially selected to offer the optimum levels of comfort and support. Each cushion specification is chosen to complement the individual sit characteristics of its particular model. All our foam seat cushions offer excellent recovery characteristics to help retain their appearance and comfort over time. FOAM/FIBRE WRAPPED SEAT CUSHIONS. These luxury cushions are made of a premium foam core with a channelled fibre wrap. They offer the soft and inviting look of a fibre seat cushion but with a built-in ability to retain plumpness and comfort over time with the inclusion of a foam insert. The foam has excellent recovery characteristics and also helps to plump the fibre around it. Cushion Options. 50 G Plan Elevate. G PLAN ELEVATE IS OUR INNOVATIVE AND STYLISH RANGE OF RISE & RECLINE CHAIRS. Sometimes we could all do with a lift. With our range of Rise & Recline chairs, you can enjoy a helping hand at the touch of a button. They raise you safely to the perfect height for standing, then gently lower you back down. Rise. Recline. And all points in between. Elevate is designed to assist people with arthritis, rheumatism and other disabilities. If you d like more information about our range of Elevate chairs, please ask your stockist for more details or visit FRAME&SPRING 10 YEAR G U A R A N T E E MECHANISM H A N D S E T & M O T O R 7 YEAR GUARANTEE All Elevate chairs are fitted with castors. Once the chair starts to rise, the front castors are automatically immobilised. Our Elevate chairs require space to recline. Please allow 445mm/17.5" clearance at the back of the recliner when sitting in the dual-motor Elevate chair to allow the mechanism to go into the full recline position. 51 COMFORT HAS NEVER BEEN SIMPLER. With our range of Elevate Rise & Recline chairs, complete comfort is never more than the touch of a button away it couldn t be simpler. You can use the handset to control the backrest and footrest, along with raising the chair up and down. When you find your most comfortable position, you can store it using the memory function and return the chair to that exact position any time you want just by pressing the memory button. It s as easy as that to find complete comfort with Elevate Rise & Recline chairs. All buttons are recessed to avoid accidental use and the handset can be easily used by either hand. QUICK GUIDE. Reset Returns chair to the seated position, with the footrest closed and the back upright. Elevate Elevate is activated, gently raising the chair and allowing you to stand up more easily. Recline The back is moved to the reclined position. Backrest The back is moved to the upright position. Footrest Footrest is raised to a position of your choice. Standby Activates and lights up the handset for 20 seconds. The handset is set to sleep mode if it hasn t been used for 15 seconds to reactivate it, simply press and hold for 1 second. Memory This allows you to store your favourite position. With your chair in the desired position, press the Standby button for 5 seconds and the Memory button will flash green. Then simply press the Memory button to store the current position. Once stored, holding down the Memory button will return the chair to the position stored. To store a new position, simply repeat this process. 43

Plump up loose cushions frequently to stop creasing and flattening. Turn reversible cushions regularly to enhance their appearance and comfort. Chaise style recliners and models featuring fixed seat/arm cushions require plumping and re-dressing after every use to keep them in excellent condition. Ensure that the cushion and fabric are straightened and smoothed out to their original position. Where possible, reposition upholstery in your room for more equal seat usage. Lightly vacuum fabric covered upholstery once a week to prevent dust from building up. Accumulated dirt will dull colours and speed up wear. Removable armcaps are available on selected models. Do not leave newspapers on your sofa or chairs as the ink can stain. With leather furniture you can dust with a soft brush weekly. All leathers with the exception of Artisan can be wiped weekly with a damp cloth and cleaned quarterly by wiping over with a lukewarm mild solution of pure soaping agent. We do not recommend or endorse any leather cleaning products as polishes, detergents, solvents, white spirit or stain removers may damage the leather. Do not use baby wipes for cleaning your leather upholstery. Failure to carry out simple cleaning on a regular basis can reduce the life of your leather upholstery. Extra care is required with Artisan leather furniture. Light marks can be cleaned with a slightly dampened cloth and a lukewarm mild solution of pure soaping agent. It is important not to over wet the leather as this can cause water staining. Avoid sitting on upholstery with heavily soiled or non-colourfast clothing. Direct sunlight can cause fading, so protect furniture by drawing curtains and blinds whenever possible. Care should be taken with sharp-edged toys, buckles and jewellery. Take extra care when operating recliners with concealed buttons and on Artisan leather furniture, which is easily scratched and marked. Avoid sitting or standing on the arms of chairs and sofas to prevent damage to the fillings, padding and fabric. Please note Tess ratchet arms are not suitable for sitting or standing on. We know children love jumping on sofas but they can damage the cushion covers and seat platforms. Trim off loose threads with sharp scissors as pulling them could leave a hole. Recliner mechanisms should be operated with care and children should be supervised at all times. Keep furniture away from direct heat or air conditioning as this can damage your upholstery. Keep pets off furniture to avoid scratches or marks. In the event of accidents or severe soiling, please contact your stockist or seek professional advice. 63
