The Winterthur Museum houses the world's largest collection of American antiques that span from 1640 to Since the inaugural launch in 1999, the craftsmen at Hickory Chair have lovingly created new pieces rooted in these fine antiques. In October 2017, a beautiful new grouping of fine bedroom, dining room, living room upholstery and occasional pieces were introduced. This ambitious new grouping beautifully complements the popular. Respected for his unwavering enthusiasm for fine American furniture, as well as for his keen appreciation of craftsmanship, harmony and scale, H.F. du Pont is considered by many to be America's most significant antiques collector and one of the nation's most important early interior decorators. Du Pont's legacy of enduring elegance is reflected in each of the fine introductions introduced this fall. But they also reflect something else: the timeless, tenacious spirit of H.F. du Pont himself. His timeless vision and passion for aesthetic excellence makes the designs as vibrant and relevant today as they were decades ago, and makes them a fitting response to growing consumer interest in classic style translated for current interiors. The collection features silhouettes that transcend more than a particular era or moment. The extensive Winterthur library gave the design team a source for archival elements and antiques whose unique forms and shapes translate into new furniture styles that resonate with designers and their clients today.
