2 A. Check Kit Contents 1. Check kit for content and damage. B. Installation Temperature 1. The Door Sill Protector and Sill surface temperature must be between 60 F and 90 F at time of actual installation. C. Clean the Door Sill Surfaces 1. Drive Side only i. Pull back the protective plastic film just enough to expose the door sill surface. ii. Do not remove completely. 2. Clean the door sill surface to remove grease and wax. (Figs. C1 & C2) i. Wipe the application area clean with 3M Prep Solvent 70 and a clean no-scratch cloth. ii. Rinse the application area clean with distilled water and a clean no-scratch cloth. iii. 3 D. Installation of Door Sill Protectors 1. Using the pull-tabs, remove the tape liners. (Fig. D1) i. Avoid finger contact with the adhesive surface. 2. Make sure the Door Sill Protector is in the proper orientation before the adhesive contacts the door sill Fig. D1 i. Door-The vehicle name must be right reading from outside the vehicle. The marking on the back of the part identifies the applicable side of the vehicle and must be oriented towards the front of the vehicle. xa shown. (Fig. D2 and D3) Fig. D2 Fig. D3 ii. Rear Door- The marking on the back of the part identifies the applicable side of the vehicle and must be oriented towards the front of the vehicle. xa shown. (Fig. D4 and D5) 3. Align the turned down edges of the Door Sill Protector with the edges of the factory sill plate. Fig. D4 Fig. D5 4. Use light finger pressure to initially adhere the Door Sill Protector adhesive to the door sill. i. If necessary, the part can still be repositioned at this time. 5. Once satisfactory positioning has been achieved, use fingertips and the palm of your hand to gain full tape adhesion. i. Use firm, even pressure. 6. Driver Side only i. 4 E. Gap Specifications 1. Due to manufacturing tolerances of the factory plastic door sill piece and the door sill mounting surface, no maximum Door Sill Protctor to Vehicle Gap Specification can be given. i. Maximum gap is based on the as installed height difference between the Door Sill Protector and the factory plastic door sill piece. ii. The maximum acceptable height difference between the bottom edge of the Door Sill Protector and the factory plastic sill piece is 1.5mm. iii. Acceptable minimum gap between the vehicle and the Door Sill Protector is.5mm. Page 4 of 5 pages
